Plot twist: They will take away your facebook also. Doesn't mean you have to stop spewing the truth in other ways.

You're not gonna find one in the liberal college bubble you're trapped in. Go the opposite direction, start getting super political with everyone, make them fire you. And roll out to a conservative campus like a boss. Or get out of the college game altogether, work for a think tank or something where you have actual adults around.

As long as you don't have children. Hard to support a family if you're choosing your "rights" over a stable income. Which is why so many of us aren't rebelling against masks. We have to feed our families.

Scenario: It's ten years in the future. You're married to the girl of your dreams, and, because of your stable job, she has been able to stay home and raise your three beautiful children. But, she just found out she has cancer. Your job is your family's only source of income and medical insurance, which she's going to need for her chemo treatments. Your boss just told you that a formal complaint has been lodged against you for your Facebook posts. Either delete your FB or lose your job. Which do you choose?

Dude I read a post on the subreddit for psychologists a while back, and it was this "therapist" that had a client that was in their office crying all the time about "what's the point of doing anything, we're going to die in 10 years from climate change anyway". The post was basically going on about how she didn't know what to do with the client other than acknowledge that they were right/how bad it sucks/etc. Also all of the comments were from other therapists essentially agreeing with how that's a legitimate worldview.

I know you're not a therapist, but it's within your field and when I read that I immediately thought "holllllly shit basedmeddoc would have a field day with these retards".

To be fair, Facebook is an insanely convenient form of a photo album, that can also double as a sort of clouds storage, and perfectly findable but secure email if you have a unique name

1

That worries me Pede. Usually when management has told you to "be careful" what they are really saying is that a target has been put on your back. I would get rid of FB. You can have face to face discussions with your real friends.

I'm a teacher and I have been reported many times. I never state my opinion, only facts that are verifiable. The last one was that of all the Nobel prize winners, Barack Obama has ordered the most deadly drone strikes. But Florida has a specific statute that reinforces the first amendment rights of teachers and makes it illegal to even ask teachers to say something different. I have had to email that to administration many times and once had to ask if I should call my lawyer. Someone has to fight this fight, people saying "fuck that I gotta feed my kids" don't understand that the food disappears shortly after the rights disappear anyway.

11
NvJohansson 11 points ago +11 / -0

But on the other hand, doctors are high up on the career food chain and are not the ones that usually get fired or replaced, and if so still can get work across the street the same day... as for the smaller fish, it's not usually the case.

Isn't it sad that you can be thrown in the gulag for speech that isn't illegal, offensive or baseless?

16
spezisacuckold 16 points ago +16 / -0

This is how the left sees it:

  1. Is it true? Then it’s completely baseless.

  2. If they can’t gaslight idiots that openly, they just say it’s “offensive” to their precious feelings.

  3. If it’s offensive, it’s “hate speech” which is clearly illegal even though the courts have ruled many, many, many, times in the past that any definition of “hate speech” is in fact... legal.

2
DCdeplorable 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hate speech is violence so they can beat you with sticks for your words, you are the aggressor!

Also, to note, silence is violence.

Seems to me, if you've kept your personal FB as friends-only, then you've been careful to keep a reasonable boundary between work life and private life.

5
RussianBlyat 5 points ago +5 / -0

You may be misinterpreting the action taken by your boss here. A verbal 'warning' is a necessary first step in a termination process. Even if your state is right to work, this could just be a CYA move on the part of the corporation. If your boss truly didn't care they wouldn't have brought it up. Even if they are cool with what you do on Facebook, their boss might not be and they are trying to make sure they don't get axed if this complaint goes further. I would approach this situation with a great deal of caution.

More power to ya. I stopped caring what people thought a long time ago. Helps that I own my own business so if the HR dept has a problem with something I say, I just tell 'em to get lost! I got rid of Facebook years ago when I saw it was basically just a time waster. Basically about as useful as Minesweeper or Farmville. Not having it is great. I actually speak with my friends and family, or (gasp!) get together with them. I don't waste my time or attention on a bunch of superfluous nonsense or ridiculous online arguments. And I haven't even mentioned the ridiculous political stuff you are now experiencing.

I can honestly say, getting rid of social media improved my life.

3
Bucktooth34 3 points ago +3 / -0

Do not use your real name on socialism-media.

Do not reuse usernames or passwords. Get a password manager as it makes this easy to do. Bitwarden is free, open sourced, and made right here in the USA.

Use burner email accounts, one example is 33mail.

Tell him you’re considering suing the college and talking to some organizations that sue over Freedom in Higher Education about it. So no, it's a stretch that Facebook would implement a snitch program.

2
Meme_Too 2 points ago +2 / -0

My Facebook is "private" in the sense that I only allow friends to see my posts.

Plus anyone with access to your friends' accounts, plus whichever of THEIR friends, spouses, coworkers, etc, happen to be looking over their shoulder as they view your so-called private posts. And any image can be saved, any post can be copied and pasted.

Remember, everything you do on the internet is there forever, and eventually everyone will see it.
