A zero trust verifiable aid to true democracy. Building distributed social media off it is possible too. Even a fork to aid decentralization of schools. Help get rid of commie brainwashing. Support cryptovoting.

If it's digital, and online, it is susceptible to fraud. Show me a single digital thing on the internet that can't be fucked with.
That's true. I've seen a few blockchain based social medias which still censor. They built it into the protocols, and maintain final say in development. Setting a standard of transparency would go a long way with that, and using blockchain cuts out the middleman. Because the ledger is available to everyone, it can be verified by anyone. Votes don't go through polling stations, privately owned counting machines, a central government server, or fucking usps.
In person voting whenever possible.
Institute VoterId, thumbprint + sign on the signature rolls and purple ink on the finger on the way out the door.
Sensible. I'm in favor. I still would prefer an institution which has anti-fraud protection inbuilt, as opposed to layered ontop, and therefore subject to policy changes
I am a hammer&nails person.
I believe in “simple but functional” and “crude but Effective”.
Modern technology is GREAT!!! When it works. . .
That's very true. First point that's made me take a real pause.
I think it is great that people try to improve things! If we don’t keep trying to advance, we won’t! But I also think you don’t ditch what works until you are sure the new stuff works as well or better.
Tangentially...
Didja see where 2024 Toyota’s ( I think it was 2024) will be “connected” and upload data in real time, which will be accessible by insurance companies? I think the system is called AWS.
This is why my most recent vehicle purchase is a 1963 Willys. Factory theft prevention (manual choke and column 3-speed) and probably also EMP-proof, too.
Hammer and nails.
I like the idea, but from a practical perspective, I don't trust the people manning the polling location, I don't trust the people who own the ballot boxes, and I don't trust the government agents handling the whole thing.
Oh, and no, in person and voter i.d. required
I just saw a flaw in my idea. Fake birth certificates, and fake naturalizations.
No.
From what I have read, the ledger would be public, transparent, and you can go back and check which vote was entered for you. The Voter profiles would be separate from the actual vote so your vote would be anonymous in the election other than to yourself.
I think if done correctly, then fraud would not be possible. We would also increase voter participation from 50% to probably 80%.
Australian voting goes out the window once it is hacked. And someone will figure out how to hack it.
Unfortunately you are probably right.
I hate being Cassandra. . .
The technical paper here:https://itugen.com goes a bit more into how it could work. I haven't read this one yet.
If it's on the internet it is not anonymous, how is it so hard for people to understand this?
Democracy is a disease that breeds tyranny. A representative republic has been and still is the most perfect system developed by mankind
