Unless things have changed, most firehoses aren't fire resistant. They're designed to be resistant to abrasion, pressure, and rotting.

You'd think it would be helpful for hoses that put out fires to be at least somewhat resistant to heat and flame. But I know nothing about fire fighting so...

You use the hoses from Outside. You don't walk into the raging flames with the hose before turning it on. Also, when it's in use, it's full of Water, which is in fact the most non-flamable substance in the world.

I'm just pokin' at ya, I get what you mean. I would have assumed they're fire resistant too, before Keln said his piece above.
