Their Discoverer series are great tires for SUVs and pickups and very reasonable. Perfect all-weather tires for this part of the country for sure. We don't get a lot of ice and snow, but we do get it every single year and also really hard downpours are common. Nothing like hydroplaning at 75 MPH to get your attention.
No, if you are off-roading you want something better suited than an all-weather tire I would imagine. The last time I've gone mudding was in a friend's Land Cruiser many years ago. It was the old style like Toyota made in the late 70's, we beat the ever living shit out of thing, and at one point he even put a Corvette motor in it. They actually made kits for that conversion back then.
True story time. He'd just got the Corvette motor installed and everything working. He took me, another mutual friend, and that guy's girlfriend out cruising around town. We were on some side street and saw a guy walking towards us as we sat at a stop sign. We didn't have the front hubs locked of course so he figured he'd do a burnout with his new powerful motor and kinda scare the pedestrian on the sidewalk. He dumps the clutch and the rear drive shaft sheared the bolts off the differential, and then proceeded to hit the bottom of the Land Cruiser, then the road, then the bottom, then the road, and made an ungodly amount of racket. The pedestrian literally dove away from us right into a big bush, terrified. We sorta slowed to a stop, and the pedestrian ran off.
We got the rear drive shaft unbolted from the transfer case (you had to carry tools with this thing, lots of tools), locked in the front hubs, and drove it to our mutual friend's shop to find new bolts for the drive shaft. After that he didn't try to spin the big beefy tires he'd put on the thing on pavement.

I’ve owned a lot of the discoverer line from the STT Pro, the ST and AT3 and they are all great tires.
