You can change your "lock screen" settings to choose your own picture instead of the Microsoft showcase pics, and turn off "fun facts, tips..." to stop those text intrusions.
This is why I'm still on Win7 and when this computer finally dies I'll finally get around to learning how to make Linux work. Between the increase in diversity hires at microsoft and the way the new OS' try and act for you with more ways to override that being removed I refuse to use it.
