My 11 yo son cannot learn online. It’s not for him. I am supportive, patient and reassuring, but this is not working for us. 7 zoom calls for 35 minutes each and I’m surprised I’ve only found him asleep once! He doesn’t retain much from these calls. I find I’m supplementing his education to make sure he has what he needs to complete his assignments, which are convoluted at best.
I’m researching homeschooling our kids. Our biggest concern is socialization. We moved to Texas at the end of 2019. The kids had 2 1/2 months of school before schools closed. Thankfully my daughter made friends but my son is shy and didn’t really connect with anyone. This shut down has been hard on them. They are taking it in stride, but there are moments I see the loneliness in my kids.
So until I find the right solution, we will work through this.
