And I'm saying that no, most people don't have the opportunity to make good money.

You'll never make a million dollar if you're mentally retarded or have some debilitating mental illness. And that's a good chunk of the population.

I still don’t think you quite get it. There is a difference between opportunity and ability. I put 100 people on a track and say whoever runs the fastest mile gets $1 million dollars. Obviously the guy who prepared and trained and had the ability is going to win unless he blows out a knee. 100 people had an opportunity to get a million dollars that day. Now the 50 people I told to sit in the bleachers because I arbitrarily decided the were not competing had no opportunity.

The means are there for anyone to earn money in the U.S. no one can legally keep anyone “out of the race” so to speak. That doesn’t mean that natural ability or disability don’t help/hinder the outcome.

Equality of opportunity is not equality of outcome.

That’s bullshit logic. If you put 20 people on a track and one person gets a million, then not everyone can make a million. One in twenty can make a million. So no matter what, 19 in 20 aren’t making a million. So your previous statement that everyone in America should be a millionaire is bullshit and out of touch. No there isn’t that much opportunity in america.

I'm not pursuing equality of outcome, I'm not a filthy commie. But in your race analogy, you need to realize that there are 50 people with a broken leg who simply cannot run.

Obviously this should not take away anything from the race winner. But as a society we need to find a way to take care of the 50 that couldn't run, and not dismiss them as "it's their fault so I don't care lol".

About 10-15% of the population have an IQ that prevents them from holding a job or and not being micromanaged on a daily basis.

To that end, I believe there should be a safety net/govt services that support those people. However, people in the 70-90 IQ range have much higher rates of violence and crime. Having a lenient criminal justice system causes more problems for the very stupid people who aren't violent.

Some people are too stupid to wipe their asshole, let alone "work hard and save and invest".
