They changed it so Adblock works on their front page banner Ad. It has never worked before, and I heard that is one of the most expensive Ad spaces in the world.

Use uBlock Origin it uses the same block lists, uses less resources, and it doesn't have acceptable ads like Ad Block + does. And I have never had a single ad ever on YouTube including any kind of banner ad.

Can you get it on Android? I couldn't find it in the playstore

That's a solid combo, and free to boot.

You should consider switching over to uBlock Origin and No Script and setup a piHole with the supported 3rd party lists. Your life will improve even more.

1
80960KA 1 point ago +1 / -0

I like UMatrix better than NoScript, NoScript's UX is ugh.

2
iwasbuiltforcomfort 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thanks, I'm going to check that out.

Do those also block ads while watching videos? Ads before/during videos is that shit I don't like.

1
80960KA 1 point ago +1 / -0

UBlock does.

I work in digital advertising. Trump team needs to check their advertising contract. It should be built in they cant block his ad.

4
lilbuffkitty 4 points ago +4 / -0

I work in digital using of adblock and ublock. Never have I seen a youtube ad. This post is bullshit. Of all the tactics youtube uses to shut down conservatives and trump this is just retarded to even make up.

This post is also assuming that youtube decides whether an ad can be blocked or not, if they could they'd shut it down entirely.

I use uBlock Origin, but lately on YouTube, when watching the President on any channel than the White House feed, uBlock racks up hundreds of blocks, yet my CPU goes from 115F to 175 degrees F

24
dukeofdoorcounty 24 points ago +24 / -0

your CPU has been commandeered to mine Bitcoin

10
ExBrooklyn 10 points ago +10 / -0

I contacted Right Side Broacasting:

The other day on YouTube, I watched DJT on your channel. After a few minutes, I noticed that my uBlock had racked up 999 blocks, and my rig was getting sluggish. I use Linux Mint 20, so I used the program Psensor to monitor the situation. My cpu temp had risen from its usual 115-20 degrees f to 175! Also, the cores were in the high 80's %. It was suggested to me that my cpu was being commandeered to mine bitcoin. As soon as I bailed out of your channel, everything drifted down to normal. I believe YouTube is doing this to you on purpose. Please look into this!

80960KA 2 points ago +2 / -0

tbh it's probably just Firefox leaking resources and needing to be restarted like always.

Devs are too busy jerking off over BLM to fix bugs.

2
the_archivist 2 points ago +2 / -0

Install noscript and only allow scripts that are essential to run the webpage. This should fix it.

1
ExBrooklyn 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thanx!

2
the_archivist 2 points ago +2 / -0

You may have to stop using gmails browser client and google search (if you use those) so you can block both google.com, and doubleclick.net.

If this doesn't work, try additionally doing a clean install of mint 20.04

You use Linux. There's your problem. Sever oses suck for desktop jobs.

10
iwasbuiltforcomfort 10 points ago +10 / -0

There are thousands of distros available each with their own niche purpose. There are hundreds that are built just for the purpose of high performance desktops. The vast majority of those easily out perform Windows and OSX in most scenarios.

TrumpyOldMan 6 points ago +6 / -0

Thank you. The guy you are replying to needs to brush up on his computer literacy. I've been using desktop linux for years and it is awesome. I dont have to worry about microsoft spying on me, or have their updates forced down my throat at inconvenient times

2
iwasbuiltforcomfort 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've been here since kernel 0.12 was released. It's been an amazing ride.

Probably Chrome or Firefox, these browsers are suspiciously using a lot more CPU power every year yet they rarely add new functionality. Chrome had my laptop's fans running max almost constantly, switched over to Brave and haven't had the problem since.

5
SuddenlyClintoned 5 points ago +5 / -0

I've got an i7-8700k in my system OC'd to 4.7ghz(3.7 stock).

Chrome ate up 29% of it à couple months back. I already had brave installed, but was still using chrome for some YT and work management stuff. Same tabs in brave took 6%.

2
Based_In_Phx 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well there's your problem fella. Dump that silly Intel, and come play with the big boys! (AMD 3RD GEN RYZEN)

1
SuddenlyClintoned 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'd have gone to Ryzen if I knew I was going from a 2-rig kit to a single rig kit. But my 8700k and 2080ti outperforms my old two rig kit, so no complaining for me.

1
dannydrak 1 point ago +1 / -0

You can push 5ghz stable with good cooling. Been running my 8700k at 5.1ghz since day one on air with a Le Grand Macho RT cooler. Never had instability or temp issues even while under heavy load for extended periods.

I've only got a 240mm cooler. If I had a 280mm, I could do 5.0 for sure. I may try re-upping it when it isn't 34 degrees here.

youtube has recently started a "breaking news" feed on every app that you cant dismiss. Chock full of pure liberal bs. Conveniently just in time for the elections, so weird.

9
RedStapler 9 points ago +9 / -0

I use NewPipe App via F-Droid App Store.

  • No YouTube commercials
  • Ability to download/save videos
1
ciaramella_is_gay 1 point ago +1 / -0

I use AdAway for OS level ds blocking but for YouTube, I use YouTube Vanced.

You need root for the first but Vanced can be installed without it.

6
bigleaguetrump 6 points ago +6 / -0

Not sure what adblocker you're using but uBlock origin has always blocked all ads on YouTube. The only thing I see are the BLM/China Virus Fake News forced video suggestions which are usually highly downvoted.

I noticed they also auto mutes the ads even if you click on into the ads to view their direct source. That’s not supposed to happen. The homepage is always auto muted yes, but if you click into the SOURCE, it should play like any normal YouTube video with sound on by default. Nope. Auto muted.

They really did everything to screw trump on that purchase.

I've never had ads on youtube until recently. They started doing something with the way the site loads to avoid my DOM filters.

Isn't that fraud? Trump's campaign folks should be checking their content to see whether they were promised something they're no longer getting.

Google owns Adblock!

Use NewPipe to replace YouTube on Android. No ads, background and window play, sweet dark UI, download videos at hi-res, no Google API used. Thank me later.

So they can sell Trump ad space and then block it, never a screw up -- sometimes they get caught

2
Musman 2 points ago +2 / -0

Try the Brave Browser, it has built in ad blocking.

2
PropagandaWizard1984 2 points ago +2 / -0

Sounds like a breach of contract. I hope who ever bought the ad space sues!

2
America202020 2 points ago +2 / -0

But we are forced to sit through full :15 to :45 ads promoting Covid masks, etc.

2
Marble68 2 points ago +2 / -0

If the Trump campaign can show the disabled ad block while his ad runs, that's a MASSIVE lawsuit that would open discovery WIDE UP...

because google would have to PROVE it didn't impact impressions.

1
thekindlyman555 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've never seen a front page banner ad on YouTube.

1
gorillachannel 1 point ago +1 / -0

Once every couple of years when I install a new browser for whatever reason, I briefly encounter a youtube ad. Within seven seconds I have Ublock Origin installed. But it's still a very surreal experience realizing other people actually see these ads all the time.

1
E-dantes 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sue them for election interference by a public media corporation, agree suspending what ever law allows them to operate and editorialize....I'm not a lawyer but you pedes understand what I am getting at. Bury them financially.

1
OtherwiseSafe 1 point ago +1 / -0

If they truly changed the algorithm to allow adblock to work after selling Ad space to Donald Trump, then that would be clear fraud and also election interference. I have doubts that this is true, though because I don't ever see any ads on youtube.

1
SuddenlyClintoned 1 point ago +1 / -0

Tbh, I'm not sure how true that is.

Adblock has always blocked YT banner ads for me. I don't get ads on YouTube unless I'm on mobile.

1
shav 1 point ago +1 / -0

i dont think thats new. I used to use ad block plus and never had ads on youtube. Currently use brave browser and never have ads. If only I could find a way to block them on mobile.

1
Rock_it_launcher 1 point ago +1 / -0

You must have real shitty adblock. I use UBlock origin I haven't had an ad in years
