I had a former coworker who hosted a big party with booze for her daughter because "I'd rather she drank at my house than their house."

I informed her that what she did was HIGHLY illegal.

Depends on the state because of state’s rights. A majority of states allow underage drinking when on private property and with a family member. Linked is a 6 min read that dives a bit into some nuance. By no means exhaustive but it’s pretty educating:

This was in a state where parents aren't allowed to give their kids alcohol and definitely not allowed to host a drunken orgy for their kid with all their friends.
