The movie and book were great but inherently ironic (idk if it was purposeful or not). The main goal of all the men was to not be a slave to things and materials. They then just became a slave to the whims of Tyler Durden. Either way we’re slaves.

It's funny isn't it? We have free will (most of us do at least) and despite that we always hopelessly become a slave to something.

The book is about slaves to hedonism in the bathouse scene. Re-read some of those fight descriptions...
