Don’t think its meant so much in the respect that you draw your self-worth from your possessions, but more or less they will begin to have a hold on your life and influence your decisions. Yeah, you can say it’s personal responsibility and ‘nothing in life is free’, but having a mortgage and 60k car can def act as an anchor in life.
Or be responsible and not buy cars you cannot truely afford with cash? Get that 10 year mortgage on a house you can actually afford? Money management isn't hard. People just overspend.
