Hijacking top comment to say I'm a hispanic member of the church. The actual name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My family left devout Catholicism for it, and yes it is very Christian.

We make actual sacrifices for what we believe in. just like the rest of you. I pay a full tithe, that's very hard to do. Other tithe payers from all churches will know what I'm talking about.

We live in a culture that embraces depravity and filth, but I saved myself for marriage. That's incredibly difficult. Especially when you know you're going to marry the girl.

Before that I also went on a 2 year mission. That's two full years of my life I dedicated to what I feel was sincere service. I saw people's lives change first hand as they abandoned addictions or turned their lives to God. And I saved up my own money to pay for it (plus left a girl I liked at the time).

I wish we were afforded some of that same religious tolerance that the rest of you guys pretend to believe in. But instead it feels like I'm always defending my religion from... conservatives.

I am an Ex-mormon but I will defend Mormons. They are good people. Christian. Industrious and mostly republican..

Exmormon too. Mormons are based AF. It's why I'll never leave Utah. I don't buy the religion anymore but dammit if they aren't patriots.

Except Mitt.

Instances of Josep Smith as a Sexual Predator: http://www.116pages.com/2016/08/evidence-that-joseph-smith-was-sexual.html?m=1

I respect anyone’s decision to follow whatever religion they want. So long as they don’t rape kids or try to take away others freedoms. Also my opinion about a Pseudo Christian Church is my form of free speech so there you go..

As someone else commented their dear leader Joseph Smith literally married and raped children. So there you go again..

A simple Wikipedia search can inform you. they get this one right.

“ The accuracy of Smith's story has been widely invalidated. Scholars reject Smith's claims of ancient origin and consider the book a fabrication by Smith, drawing on material and ideas from contemporary 19th-century works rather than translating an ancient record. Scholars argue that no evidence of a reformed Egyptian language has ever been discovered. The content found within the book has also been questioned. Scholars have pointed out a number of anachronisms within the text, and no archaeological or genetic evidence has supported the book's claims about the indigenous peoples of the Americas. The text has also undergone many significant revisions, which critics see as a rebuttal of its divine origins.”

It's sad to see how hateful you are. Especially towards people that stand up for your rights.

If you wanna play the "secular scholars must approve my religion" card, you'll lose every time. Where's the secular evidence for the Garden of Eden? For humans that lived nearly a thousand years? For a literal worldwide flood?

Btw those same scientists also brought you, transgenderism, gender spectrum, global warming...cooling...uhh...climate change, porn is healthy, fetuses aren't alive, coronavirus, etc.

You just described every religion. Stop turning this into something it's not. We get it. You're not Mormon. Stick to politics this isn't ExMormon reddit.

Mormons are some of the nicest people I've ever met, but you guys believe you're going to become "like gods" if you do things properly, right?

Revelation 3:21

Anyone who has read the Bible knows the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Yeah. The gist of it is just as our earthly parents teach/guide us to become like them (assuming they're good examples), God does the same.

Yeah, OK. Teaching and learning is cool, but I just don't like where it leads though. In other words, as humans, we can strive for perfection, but we cannot achieve it because only God is perfect.

Don't want to get on your case about it, because I can tell you're sincere in walking the good path.

Thanks for answering. I appreciate it.

I'm going to toss out there that most Trump supporters dislike the Pope and disagree with a lot of Jewish led politicians that put their religion and Israel over America.

Its not limited to just Mormons. Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants don't quite get along either. Especially when you start throwing the woke churches into the mix.

I hear they are a bit extreme. If you were to suddenly not be Mormon anymore, how would your family and church see you?

Our church, just like the rest of America, is seeing a major upswing in our youth becoming enlightened atheists. Unfortunately, the left is poisoning Christianity all over the place.

That said, none of these kids are being cut off from their families or "shunned" or anything. My own brother left in his teens and we were sad but he never missed any family events or was treated differently. He just didn't attend with my parents on Sundays.

If I were to leave right now though, my wife and grandma would be devastated. Perhaps not so badly if I went to another religion. If I denounced God and turned atheist, it might actually kill my poor grandma lol.
