I was told by missionaries that mormons believe the Bible is false and has been corrupted.

Hard time believing that, but if they did, they're wrong. It's literally ingrained into our Articles of Faith

  1. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

The same stance as basically everyone on the Bible.

Edit: We use the KJV in English and Reina-Valera in Spanish btw.

Interesting. Wonder why they told us that then. They said both the old and new testaments were wrong and flawed, corrupted by men. So I guess every version other than KJV?

I don't know why the would say that. Maybe personal theories? I know sometimes people get caught up in the details of religion and end up missing the forest for the trees.

We as a church don't single out any translations as bad or good. We hold a preference for the KJV though. Here's one quote on the subject.

Its O. T. far surpassed any English translation in its faithfulness to the Hebrew text and the simplicity of its style. Its N. T. is so expressive in language and form that it is said to rival the original Greek as literature. Its majestic, direct, forceful prose has never been surpassed in English literature. -Madeleine and J. Lane Miller

Many translations have come out since the church was founded though and nobody should be ashamed of choosing one they get more out of.

Personally (just me speaking) I wouldn't ever use the New World Translation. Someone gave me a free copy and it felt very manipulative. But I have no beef with any other translations either.
