My thinking is: if Trump wins, and especially if he wins decisively, we will flip the House back and hold the Senate (maybe even pick up a seat or two). Him being on the top of the ticket almost ensures straight Republican voting.

Even though we are righteously mad at much of the GOP in Congress, we also know that we have to get back the House and keep the Senate or they'll impeach Trump and convict and remove him this time and our Trump vote will have been in vain.

Basically if we lose the Senate and don't flip the House, Trump is going to be removed even if he wins the WH.

VOTE STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET

The time to replace RINOs with MAGA conservatives is during the primaries. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In the general you MUST vote straight Republican.

32
ChokingOnARedpill 32 points ago +33 / -1

It worked very well for Lauren Boebert this year.

55
FergieJR 55 points ago +57 / -2

Yeah we've lost a lot of RINOs since 2016.

Paul Ryan and McCain being the top two. Sadly Douchebag Romney got in.

Damn it Utah you had one job!

29
KaiserBilltheWolf 29 points ago +33 / -4

And Mike Lee can't be trusted on immigration. Mormon Mafia wants that cheap labor for their farm operations, so Mike delivers.

25
mathman 25 points ago +28 / -3

It's worse than that. The new Mormon orthodoxy is that they need to bring in millions of immigrants, because it's so much easier to convert them here.

23
Rockmanneo 23 points ago +25 / -2

TBF Trump endorsed him. He even apologized to Utahns for it.

The time to replace RINOs with MAGA conservatives is during the primaries. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In the general you MUST vote straight Republican.

This is what I keep trying to tell people. You have to replace the RINOs in the primaries, much like the Tea Party did. Once it's a choice between gutless R's and D's, you have to vote for the R. Reason being.... not a single Republican, RINO or not voted for ObamaCare. And, that should tell you all you need to know.

12
CL1984 12 points ago +13 / -1

Agree... And if Republicans win everything this fall we will have an opportunity in the future to weed out RINOs and got more MAGA guys in there.

1
Grond999 1 point ago +1 / -0

The RepubliCANTs are losers unfortunately. A cancer.

6
GoldwaterVoter 6 points ago +6 / -0

BINGO! And we did it here in CO-3, replacing amnesty shill Scott Tipton, who pushed citizenship for illegal alien farmworkers, with gun totin', Trump lovin' Lauren Boebert from Rifle, CO.

That fight happens during the primaries. If your local elected repub is a craphead, replace him with another republican

2
jojojubi 2 points ago +2 / -0

We can't underestimate Trump's ability to lead. He was able to accomplish things in the Senate by getting McConnell and Graham to do things they normally won't do. Even if a republican is only 50-50 reliable, any democrat is guaranteed to be 100% unreliable.

45
20KAG20 45 points ago +48 / -3

It’s crazy, I’m a moderate Republican. In 2012-2015 I worked with the local Dems to help get some elected. They were moderates too and good people. Then 2016 happened and I bailed on all Dems because the party is toxic.

Now I’m seeing some of the same moderate Dems I helped go straight Marxism. It’s fucking crazy. They were rationale people 7 years ago. What the fuck.

Vote straight red. Dems are literally insane.

24
Strongocho 24 points ago +26 / -2

I did the same. I was a "default democrat", but still considered myself to be towards the middle. I voted for Obama his first term, then sat out his second election because I felt betrayed by Obama but could still not stomach even considering voting Republican after being indoctrinated by public schools for 12 years. In 2016 I sat out the vote again because I knew Hilary was evil, but I thought Trump was a clown. Well, Trump has proven himself to me and earned my vote in 2020 (first time ever voting Republican), and the Democrats have gone so far off the deep end I think I will never support them again.

16
20KAG20 16 points ago +18 / -2

Sounds about right. What broke me was when the Dems started calling everyone that supported Trump Nazis, racists, and sexists. Just couldn’t imagine thinking like that. Blows my mind they are still doing it today.

5
Block_Helen 5 points ago +5 / -0

I would give a tooth to know how many people like you are out there - new Trump voters.

5
Strongocho 5 points ago +6 / -1

I would bet Trump has more cross party voters than any candidate ever. His base is pretty much first time voters and democrat expats.

3
Block_Helen 3 points ago +4 / -1

I agree he has more crossover voters. I'm really curious about the number of people in 2020 who voted against him or didn't vote in 2016 and are now voting for him.

4
Everquest4Life 4 points ago +4 / -0

If Trump’s total votes aren’t at least 20% higher than 2016 there is some major fuckery going on.

I never underestimate the pure evil of the Dems, so until we all march to the polls it’ll be unknown. I will crawl through glass to vote Trump, smiling along the way.

3
NewVoatAccountName 3 points ago +3 / -0

No need to pull/bet/give a tooth. Just wait until November, you'll be astonished by the results.

1
Block_Helen 1 point ago +2 / -1

Yes, I'm just enjoying trying to read the tea leaves now. It was fun in 2016, too. Under the radar stuff.

2
NewVoatAccountName 2 points ago +2 / -0

This time, I feel like the DNC has been going so far off the deep end for so long that it's "breaking the conditioning" all over the place, in ways that the Democrat pollsters can't even see, but which are visible as small blips popping onto the cultural radar for a few seconds before being passed over for the latest BLM protest or DNC politician's rant.

A town of people kicking Antifa out here.
Black natives from Chicago and Baltimore thanking Trump for his help there.
Lifelong Democrats writing articles about how much nicer/better the crowds are at Trump rallies compared to their Democrat counterparts one day.
Poor people in New York City attacking DeBlasio for defunding police the next.

Depending on how both sides play their cards (if the DNC even HAS any cards LEFT to play), this could be a massive landslide like 1972 Nixon or 1984 Reagan (with California, New York, and Hawaii being the 3 hardest states to flip).

11
Block_Helen 11 points ago +13 / -2

Wow, that sucks. Have you seen any other moderate Dems go Trump?

10
20KAG20 10 points ago +12 / -2

I know some got out of politics completely but I haven’t kept up with them. There’s a few that are still Dem that might vote Trump but won’t tell anyone. And then there’s the ones that are bat shit insane.

None of them have switched Republican or at the very least denounced anything about the Dem party.

7
Block_Helen 7 points ago +8 / -1

That seems to be the way of it with elected Dems. They are all lockstep. As usual.

10
namechangearoo 10 points ago +11 / -1

It’s not your parents Democrat party anymore. Most moderate Dems will sit this one out just because they don’t want a socialist America welfare state.

Isn’t Murkowski a senator from Massachusetts? If so I can forgive his cuckness if it means keeping his seat from the Democrats. He has the excuse of having a very lefty base.

There will never be a conservative Republican senator representing Massachusetts, so the best we can settle for there are RINOs.

But at the very least Murkowski votes along party lines when it mattered the most (Kavenaugh & Impeachment).

Romney has no excuse, he represents one of the most reddest states in the Union, he has literally no reason to be such a RINO except for the fact that he is in on the corruption and agrees with it.

4
CannonballJunior 4 points ago +4 / -0

Murkowski is a she (Lisa) and is from the red state of Alaska.

1
aaafirefly123 1 point ago +2 / -1

Then she has no excuse.

I think I was thinking about Collins. He is the one from the red state, and thus is the one I am ok with being anti-Trump to an extent.

As long as he votes along party lines when we need it the most.

3
CannonballJunior 3 points ago +3 / -0

Collins is also a she (Susan) and is from Maine, which is arguably a purple state (and Trump won one electoral vote from Maine in 2016).

When we did have the majority in both houses Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell F-ed us over. Paul Ryan's right hand man was Kevin McCarthy, so there's that.

Wait I am stupid, I thought the entirety of congressional seats are up for election every 2 years, and only the Senate does partial elections, voting for 1/3 every time?

Edit: Thanks for helping a dummy pede out! But the already 4,000 replies have answered the question lol

64
KnoxHarrington 64 points ago +65 / -1

470 is counting the entire house plus 1/3 of the senate. They're all part of Congress which is bicameral.

15
stepping_razor123 15 points ago +16 / -1

470 is counting the entire house plus 1/3 of the senate"

thank you Pede saves me asking the question, the meme had me scratching my head. I am uh Canuck eh (edit) sorry? But all clear now.

5
dukiehazzard 5 points ago +6 / -1

I'm American and this took me a minute as well. It's because we use the terms "Congressman" and "Congresswoman" to describe members of the House of Representatives and "Senator" to describe a member of the Senate. So "Congress" sometimes becomes conflated with the House of Representatives only.

3
Ben45 3 points ago +3 / -0

I always call representatives reps and senators senators, and congressmen/women to refer to people in either chamber

Bicameral? We need more than two cameras on those snakes!

20
Block_Helen 20 points ago +21 / -1

That is correct. 535 is the House (435) plus the Senate (100) so the total of all seats. 470 is the house (435) plus 35 Senate seats.

12
lifeisahologram 12 points ago +13 / -1

The United States Congress is the bicameral legislature of the federal government of the United States and consists of two chambers: the House of Representatives and the Senate.

6
sometimescanbefunny 6 points ago +7 / -1

"Congressional" usually refers to both the House and Senate. You are correct that the House is constantly churning while the Senators are elected for 6 years, 1/3 of the Senate being elected every 2 years.

The reason they run unopposed is because the district is staunch blue. Happens with republicans in certain areas too. You wouldn't have a chance of winning as a repub because the constituents are die hard liberals. You could run as a dem win a primary, then switch parties after you won. Not sure how that would play out. Probably a soros backed recall or some fuckery.

If they get the Senate and hold the House there will be no Trump second term, even if he wins the election. They'll have him out of there within six months.

Then again, if Trump wins, I don't think they'll get the Senate. He'll drag a TON of GOP candidates with him.

There's been times before, Republicans had control of both house and senate and did nothing with it. So used to being on the defensive, apparently, they remained that way and let the Dems walk all over them. We really need term limits for congress to minimize the do-nothing fat-cats taking up space so we can hopefully get some people in position to actually start representing the people who elected them.

While I appreciate the spirit, I really do, this is only half the struggle. Whatever happens in DC, it is the local LEOs and DAs that are refusing to arrest and charge antifa and BLM rioters. It is the same LEOs and DAs that arrest and prosecute ordinary citizens for defending themselves. It is the state-level Judges that give slap-on-the-wrist sentences to murderers.

Aiming for taking back the Federal Government is great and necessary. We have to remember to take the elections locally and on the state level too. In the immortal words of Leonard Cohen: "first we take [Washington DC] then we take the world!"
