I don’t think you need to say “modern”, even the first gunpowder contained it’s own oxidizer.

I am no expert on these things, but I am pretty sure gunpowder in modern ammo has it's own oxidizer, so it will still go "bang" and lead will still fly out of the end of the barrel. From there, it's at the mercy of the physics under the conditions that exists on the moon.

Hence the quotation marks. Assuming you could fire it from a space suit, the powder/oxidizer would create it's own pressure wave as it escapes the gun, if that wave/bubble hits your suit you should be able to hear something, but probably nothing you'll need hearing protection for.
