Honestly this might actually incentive people to be in favor of defunding the police since it guarantees their prop taxes stay frozen. The property tax rates in TX are stupid and the legislature seems to pay only lip service to reducing them
And if the city/county defunds the police, then the city/county property taxes get frozen. The legislature has the power to reform or reduce or set the property tax rates if they so choose so nothing i've said is inaccurate
I'm just saying I can see how this proposal would get fiscal conservatives of all social types (conservative, moderate, liberal) to actually hop on this bandwagon

Your property taxes are determined by your city and county. There is no state property tax in Texas.
