We can't stay there forever. Let Europe fucking deal with it. We had 17+ years, thousands of American lives and trillions of dollars on this already. Enough is enough already.
I understand the need to leave really I do, I just don’t want to give Iran another puppet state practically gift wrapped for them.
We are already up against the Russo-Syrian-Iranian-Chinese Alliance, plus any puppets of theirs like North Korea, Belarus, and Central Asia. We really don’t need to add Iraq to that list.
I'm the last one to want to have given any hostile power a gift-wrapped country paid for with American lives but we have to draw the line somewhere. Hopefully we've given them enough to stand on their own but if we didn't we can't stay being the world police anymore. It's just too costly morally and economically
It’s not that we didn’t give them enough, it’s the fact that they have a Shia led government, one that is currently suspiciously eager to argue in defense of Iran’s actions.
The only thing stopping them from voluntarily becoming an Iranian puppet is our military presence.
That goes away then we’ve just added another country to our list of enemies we have to beat. Along side China, Russia, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, Central Asia, North Korea, possibly indochina (don’t know where Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia stand), and Belarus.
And let’s not forget the potential for Turkey (the only thing keeping Erdogan loyal is the fact that Putin dislikes Erdogan), the Philippines (The Current president is an anti-American, pro-Chinese shill, he might have toned it down since Trump’s election but he has already begun aligning his nation against us), and Pakistan (they hate the fact that we are getting close with India) of joining our enemy as well.
The only anti-American state we have managed to actually turn towards us was Ukraine (hardly worth it in my opinion).
On top of that China has basically economically colonized Africa so they are now aligned against us.
If we are going to defeat China then we need to isolate them internationally, not give them more allies on a silver plate.
