The Democrats and pot lunatics are right. We have people going to jail over a PLANT. A FUCKING PLANT, and we are supposedly the LAND OF THE FREE.

We have no-knock raids into people's homes, we take children away from their parents, OVER A PLANT.

Excellent post

Colorado has tax over runs every year since legalizing. Every citizen gets a refund.

I think the biggest reason to legalize is the drastic drop in opioid abuse and overdose that's happened anywhere even with just medical.

People are going to do drugs. Making the least harmful illegal is complete nonsense.

Also the "continue on to harder drugs" I believe is primarily explained by marijuana teaching you how to deal with criminals. Connecting you with a world most people would have no contact with if they could buy at a legal dispensary or grow their own.

Pharma is dead set against it because of the huge monetary loss from opioid sales which may be why Trump does it considering how hard he's been on them lately.

Crankyboy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yup its legal in Canada and no one talks about it anymore. Legit no one cares, its not cool anymore. Especially when grandma is taking gummies because of back pain.

InarosPrime 8 points ago +11 / -3

I doubt it would provide a net positive for his votes. There are far more conservative religious people who view marijuana as an evil than those who want to see it legalized.

On the other hand, if he waited for his second term, and framed it as leaving the states up to decide how to control marijuana, he wouldn't lose any significant support.

8
HillaryAteMyBaby 8 points ago +12 / -4

Which is stupid because the Bible is actually more pro-marijuana than anything else. Even God himself says that he gave us all green plants for our use. What kind of supposed christian questions God? Wtf.

Anyway, from a non-religious standpoint, I do think people who consume Marijuana for the sole purpose of getting high, and do it enough where they are addicted to it... That's wrong.

But everyone now knows that Marjiuana is actually full of very valid health benefits, and having a joint every now and again to destress, there's nothing wrong with that.

Alcohol is far more dangerous but that's legal...

Its up to the individual user. If he cant handle it like alcohol, porn or whatever thats his problem.

Itll also increase tax revenue to help pay for covid expenses and reduce the power of cartels which means less mexicans crossing the border from fear.

8
casualdiverter 8 points ago +9 / -1

Really? Is that still a thing?

6
InarosPrime 6 points ago +7 / -1

There were a few generations exposed to the "reefer madness" propaganda. The effects rippled through generations and it takes time to undo that strong of a cultural shift against marijuana.

3
superwookee 3 points ago +3 / -0

My mother was raised in that generation. Her brother struggled with addiction his entire life and she blamed weed for being the "gateway" drug until I asked her one question.

If weed didn't exist would your brother have avoided addiction?

3
ItsaMe_Recneps 3 points ago +3 / -0

This is what I pretty much came here to say. Myself and and pretty much all my friends smoke weed and never even touched other drugs or even drink alcohol. Lots of smart affluent and successful people smoke weed. People that end up using harder drugs would've sought hard drugs despite smoking marijuana first due to their upbringing, lack of self control or whatever "demons" that haunt them. It's unfair that people go to jail over the use of a plant and idk probably 50% of workers have to pay for fake urine kits to get jobs and then worry about losing their jobs if they get popped for randoms or accidentally injured on the job for something they use to destress, curb anxiety, ease pain, when Jon Doe can drink a 12 pack every night and not even have to worry about shit. Alcohol is by far worse than marijuana IMO. Nobody gets belligerently high and starts shit and fights with people in bars/clubs or beats their wife or kids or blackouts while driving and goes head into another car or spends the night heaving their guts out and wakes up feeling like death with a headache.

stonepony 5 points ago +8 / -3

2/3 of Americans support common sense decriminalization.

"Conservatives" who have these misguided mommy-government tendencies, are not concentrated in states that will go for Biden.

3
45willwinagain 3 points ago +3 / -0

yeah thats what rescheduling means. currently it's a schedule 1 drug and if the feds wanted to they could literally shut down the entire weed market in the entire country tomorrow morning.

rescheduling it to a 2 or a 3 would mean that states would be free to operate as they are right now... by making the decisions for themselves.

I don't think he'd lose any support, the hardcore's you're speaking of wouldn't let such a trivial thing make or break this years decision. There are so many things that overshadow such a change that he only stands to gain from it.

I mean imagine that conversation... "Well Trump is for securing the boarders, stopping corruption, and pedo's, and antifa/BLM riots... buuuuuut he did pass a law to keep things the way they are in most of the country so we should vote for more riots instead.

I think this is an idea who's time has come and Trump stands to gain the most from making the change.

Reschedule it and use it to get Americans off the shitty Chinese drugs they were all suckered into taking.

It stops pediatric epilepsy. Helps Parkinsons and ALS patients. Helps our police and vets, all first responders, to make sense of the evil they see everyday and stops the night terrors. It keeps depression and anxiety at bay, because cannabis forces you to be in the present.

Then fuck George Soros and Bill Gates and open it as a free market. $500 license fee paid to the feds, all Americans planning on selling or transferring must use a national traceability program, and all products MUST be fully tested before sold.

The penalties are severe for non compliance. Take the dark money out of Cannabis and give it back to the people.

Itll happen. He just reposted a dude on Twitter yesterday lighting a j. Made me smile. Trump's supported MMJ since 1991. And he already saved the cannabis industry by winning in 2016. Good things coming!

Don't construe legalization with endorsement.

For example: I disagree with changing the age to buy cigarettes from 18 to 21, but I don't condone smoking.

4
stonepony 4 points ago +4 / -0

An easy sell even for the aging Conservatives who won't like it. Legalization in Colorado and Oregon is old enough that the data is in. Regarding youth drug use, and tax revenue, and the penal system. etc.

No brainer.

2
superwookee 2 points ago +2 / -0

Opioid overdose almost disappearing is the biggest for me.

4

I can't wait for libs to be against it.

3
rubmewithbeer 3 points ago +3 / -0

Whoa, I want to hear my TDS weed smoking friends argue that lmao

4
45willwinagain 4 points ago +4 / -0

Been saying this since that crusty old fuckstick Sessions was AG running his mouth about weed. I thought it was the only thing holding Trump back because he for sure hinted at changing it while campaigning. He said multiple times it should be a states rights issue, so at this point i'm holding out hope he's been saving it for re-election.

It's going to happen sooner or later, people figured out it's not the devil they were told it was.

If Trump does this, it will cement his victory, but he has to do it before joe or the hoe get to say it.

The hoe was trying to say that on stage while gabbard was curb stomping her... if you go back and listen she was trying to say it but gabbard was dominating so she never got it in.

If Trump doesn't do it, one of those fuckers will, he needs to be first.

He should wait until his second term, imo. It would bring in a huge wave of next generation voters and help to turn the tide of the Culture War by cementing the Republican Party as the new epicenter of cultural relevancy.

3
45willwinagain 3 points ago +3 / -0

Why wait? Why not use it to get 4 more years?

2

Compare and contrast how many won't vote for him for doing it before the election vs how many will vote if he does.

He has more to gain from doing it than not... because joe and the hoe will say it if he doesn't... then it will just be him "copying them".

He needs to get out in front of one of the only cards they have left, they are desperate, they will try to use rescheduling as a tactic... we need to take their ammo away from them.

deleted 2 points ago +2 / -0

45willwinagain 2 points ago +2 / -0

They don't actually want weed reform though, they just claim to and never do it until a voter initiative starts and forces their hand. the left gets paid big money from prison unions who like having a pot to prison pipeline... it's job security for them.

lawyers, probation, drug testing... there is an entire industry set up to process and scam people who get caught with pot, and all of those groups donate big to democrats.

Decriminalize on a federal level and allow states to decide.

Legalization and regulation on a federal level would be terrible.

1
deleted 1 point ago +3 / -2
3
jcsbck 3 points ago +4 / -1

Should legalize everything, but I get that that is unrealistic.

I'm not sure what kind of federal tax you'd be looking for. If it's more just for a license to sell, you'll kill the brick and mortar aspect. People will just base their company in one state and ship everywhere

Giving it federally scheduled but not enforcing it at the state level forces people to buy in state. It also let's them make the rules

1
NotADocileLady 1 point ago +2 / -1

Yup. Hes right you know.

Take the illegality out of something and all of a sudden there's less demand. Funny how that works!

Legalize weed, cocaine, and prostitution was my thing.

Weed because already 10+ states legalized. Cocaine seems to be popular. And legal prostitution because it's 2020 and it helps the workers to defend themself better if it's legal.

whole country already is a dump. I'm just for legalizing minor non violent offenses.

You're using the arguement that today didn't happen. "If we legalize cocaine, prostution, the nation will be a mess!" Portland is rioting, they're shitting in the streets of San Francisco - The nation is a mess because of the DEEP STATE. Legalizing a few non-violent, not too severe recreational activities can help. And did you bring up DRUNK cocaine user? The alcohol arguement? C'mon, man. :/ You can't use alcohol as a reason to make cocaine illegal for fuck's sake.

And free Assange.

Wont beat Reagans win. But Itll be pretty fucking huge.

He should also play as a true politician and say he will do it like a few days before the election so there is little time to rebutt it for the left and then if stoners want it they have to vote for him. Cause if he just does it theyll go sweet man and never get out to vote. Same with Assange. Libertarians will go sweet thanks and vote libertarian. But if he will pardon him after then theyll vote for Trump.

2
LordofNorthMesquite 2 points ago +2 / -0

How how about decriminalize it without taxing it. Only liberals feel the need to tax everything. We are taxed enough.
