Watching a woman doing a choreography against a pretend attacker is like watching Bugs Bunny defending himself from a shotgun by putting his finger in the barrel.
This one might actually do something. The setting is usually a crowd. I'd imagine the grip is loose and they're not expecting any kind of resistance. There's no way a woman win's in any contest of strength, but this may (no matter the outcome) concisely show the crowd that something very not okay just happened to the woman.

Smashing them in the balls is a hell of a lot faster, easier, more natural, and takes fewer movements.
