The word "God" was put in the pledge in the 1954 because "communism." It seems they're taking it out for the same reason.

And it was left out of the original version because it had been written by a socialist.

Or maybe because there's true Americans that also don't believe? I'm atheist and it's always been a bit weird for me.

Your personal beliefs have no bearing on the foundation of this country

That wasn't a common position back when it was written, in 1842.

Yeah, one thing I hate here is that there are WAY too many people who would be perfectly OK with a Christian theocracy...because that's always worked out so well in the past.

Yeah not theocracy.

The Quakers came here to practice their own form of Christianity. Religious freedom is important (as long as it isn't a very violent political movement designed to destabilize masquerading as a religion)

But western civilization kicks so much ass BECAUSE of it's heritage of christian values.

Unfortunately you have to realize that most people fill the void of religion with pure shit , better Christianity than any of the modern inventions

Atheism also isn't very conductive to creating a fixed set of rules, these people think it is ok to kill people over words, Christianity is past that , so these antifa and BLM people have regressed

Do you think the average Joe has the time and patience to come up with a consistent life guiding set of principles

And even if he or she does is it or isn't it based on Christian ideas - no matter how much you hate that it's true - so what is the difference in the end?

Dawkins realized it after decades of preaching the atheist cause... It isn't actually easy to create such a narrative to guide people
