Now you are putting words in my mouth. Typical leftist tactic. American slavery was an unwilling inheritance of British colonialism. 1619 teaches that the founders went out of their way to secure and protect slavery which is false revisionism to suit the marxist anti-capitalist agenda. It was grudgingly tolerated. Many states did not have significant slavery at all, and in the peak slavery era less than 2% of the us pop had slaves.

The civil war was also about states' rights. You think the confederate soldiers had slaves?

States only ratified the constitution because they were under the impression that they could leave the union should they so desire.

I did not say it was the only reason. You are apparently unable to have a discussion with someone without putting words in their mouth and straw manning them. Good day.

How in the fuck is it misleading? A tiny percent of people owned slaves, and a black man was the first slaveholder.

Since you think reading is so fun, you should read about the barbary slave trade and the middle east slave trade. Hundreds of thousands of europeans were taken as slaves by invading moors over the centuries and they were far more mistreated than american slaves. All the men were castrated which is why there are no modern day descendants of the slave trade in the middle east.
