Racism was very much okay until the US made it not okay through the efforts of abolitionists and free speech.
And the US was largely responsible for ending it because HALF THE FUCKING COUNTRY SECEDED TO TRY AND KEEP IT.
This is a gross misunderstanding of the very complex political factors involved in the civil war. The majority of the soldiers fighting for the CSA were not slave owners, they were poor rural farmers being fed the narrative of "the war of northern aggression"
Lincoln himself said "If I could end the war and preserve the union without freeing a single slave I would"
There's also more people than at any point in history, as populations rise so do certain statistics.
So when its 200 years ago its terrible oppression, but modern slavery is just "a rise in statistics"? where do you get off?
That's still more humans than the US ever had enslaved being bought and sold as chattel right now and you think the issue is one of the world leaders in civil rights?
