Several years ago I registered as a Democrat. I did this after much careful consideration. Below are the 5 primary reasons.

I want the Democrats to think there are more people on their side than there are, to become overconfident.

I want voting results to show that Democrats voted across party lines.

I want the DNC to waste money advertising to me.

I want to vote in their Primary, helping pick their candidate.

I don’t want the PostOffice to misplace and/or destroy my ballot.

I think you also get to cast unlimited ballots and you can vote for friends and family.

Here in California, I would probably have more influence if I was registered as a Democrat and could pick more moderate candidates in the primaries.

Really? I can't imagine my state giving money to Republicans.

I never skip a Biden/ActBlue sponsored ad on youtube. Press mute and let ActBlue waste their ad money. I make sure to skip all Trump campaign ads to save his money. I've responded to Democrat propaganda mail to make them think I'm on their side.
