I'd say that depends.There are plenty of good Catholics who do everything they can to adhere to orthodoxy but there are also alot who's views need to be corrected.The church has been in worse spots though so I'm fairly confident the crisis will eventually pass.Arianism is the one that immediately springs to mind.Worst case scenario I see happening is the modernists eventually leaving to look for a religion that validates their preexisting views leaving a much smaller but also more orthodox church behind.
