A former colleague of mine made a blanket statement that “All Trump supporters are racist.” After wasting my breath trying to explain that was an incredibly unfair and inaccurate statement, she continued to accuse me of being a racist for this sole reason (meanwhile, having known me, would certainly never say this about me had they not known my political affiliation).
Anyone else have to deal with this absolute nonsense? I would imagine so. It really infuriated me and it took a lot for me to just “walk away” (this was on the social virus otherwise known as Facebook). I’ve learned trying to reason or educate these people is a waste of time.
Best comeback is to say you agree. And then say something inflammatory in parallel. Something like -- "All blacks are criminals...."
Then just mirror whatever they say.
Thats racist -> so was your comment. Not all blacks -> Not all trump supporters Not Most blacks -> Not Most trump supporters
Oh, and at the end of the conversation just add this:
I didn't mean anything that I said. I just said it to make you realize how radical and hateful your behavior is. Reasoning with you wasn't going to work. The only shot I had was to mirror your behavior so you could see how gross it is.
I thought about that but I couldn’t bring myself to go that low. Did want to reach through the screen and strangle the shit out of them though.
Well, then I suggest to try and draw a comparison to Hitler then. That always works. Something like:
Hitler villanized his political opponents in Germany by stating they were racists and deplorable. Democrats are ushering in Nazi Germany while at the same time they think they are fighting it.
"All Biden supporters are pedophiles"
