Firepede here. That commissioner is an embarassment. The prime example of riding a desk to the top, and never actually going interior. No firefighter is afraid of COVID. Every medical we run is a potential COVID contraction. It's part of life. We had 1 confirmed COVID EMS call today, and nobody was afraid to go.

We are LEADERS. When people call us, we show up, no matter how shitty it is outside. Pandemic, nuclear winter, five alarm fire. We show up. I'm not afraid of zero visibility smoke conditions, or imminent flashover, or bailing out of a 3rd story onto a ladder face first. I'm not afraid of your pandemic. I'm not going to stand back and cower in fear. The world has done that enough. It's time for real leaders to lead. At 8:46AM, on September 11, we will remember. In person, and without fear.

There was a mass movement about this, a huge public outcry on social media, and Cuomo “changed his mind” The lights will be on this year. Also, Tunnels to Towers will continue with their tribute regardless. But all this non-sense, not just the 9/11 memorials bit the handling of Covid & needless nursing home deaths & putting heathy people on vents & them dying has hurt the people of NY to the core, I really think NY will flip red.
