Pede, I too am really an atheist. I wish I could have the comfort of faith that so many others have but my mind just won’t come to believe in it all.
However, we are at war with the left. Religion, specifically Christianity, is a foundation upon which this country was built and it’s what makes it great.
I don’t think it’s enough for atheist pedes like you and I to stay on the sidelines anymore.
Absolutely. Whether one believes in a higher power or not, it is becoming increasingly clear that the values that are at the core of Christianity are not just “good”, but are the prosocial - ie build and stengthen societies - antithesis to the values that destroy societies that are pushed by the Left.
Hm, that makes a lot of sense except I'm going to play Devil's advocate here (no pun intended) aren't the main abusers of opiate and meth and drugs usually in red states, the midwest, etc.?
As an atheist, I recognize all religions aren't created equally. Then there is levels to Christianity as well. As an atheist, I have found Christians to be much more understanding of my position, though YMMV. Christian values are more compatible to my golden rule type of morality. So I don't clash with Christians because they Christians. Life is good. Now, lefty communists Marxist pinko atheist are fucking intolerable. And downright antitheist, but only for the Christian god, strangely.
Having said all that, "under god" was added back in 1954. To me, it's just fluff, honestly, but it it adds value for someone else to love this country, then so be it.

I don't even know if it's exclusively Christianity, but I believe that faith in a higher power is what keeps most people grounded.

Thank you.

That last paragraph of your response is key.
For God and country - that could be the first step towards taking the red pill and saving us from the horrors of communism.
