I live 20 minutes outside Denver. I used to work in Denver about 4 blocks from coors field. This is truly sad. TBH this all started since Polis became governor (D). He is far far left.
There was a slight homeless problem around some of these areas, but he is all about turning Denver into California. I have stopped going to downtown as the violence is getting pretty bad.
While Polis isn’t great, Hickenlooper was much worse and had a huge part in Denver’s homelessness problem. Here’s a pretty good article with a basic explanation. There may be better ones with more details. Essentially, when Hickenlooper was mayor he made this big claim to “end homelessness in Denver in 10 years”, got millions of dollars in funding for it, and there was literally nothing to show for it after 10 years.
