During the H1N1 pandemic, the deaths attributed to H1N1 during the 4 month flu season in 2009 was more than the number of deaths attributed to COVID since January.

Schools were not shut down.

H1N1, despite having less overall deaths, was a much scarier virus because the people who had the highest chance of fatality were healthy people.
