They literally started to do shit (mask wearing, lockdowns, ~social distancing~) when it was too late and the virus was essentially over. We knew the spread was very high, and while they were counting single digit "cases" in Berlin, I knew it was already wide spread. In fact I had symptoms just 1 week after we went full home-office (1 day mild symptoms, 3 months of light cough - it was a breeze). I looked into the daily death count statistics, and do you know what happened? In a time where ~2800 people died daily, it "spiked" to ~3000 for 10 days. After that it normalized to regular April levels and went down to ~2200 in the Summer.

In either 2017 or 2018 the deaths per day spiked to an average of ~3400 with a record number of ~4000 on some days. Yeah it just happened. Nobody cared.

Here is btw a little summary (and this is also the reason why I previously advocated to use the population count, not the case count as reference):

• Germany, Britain: 1.1% annually (verified)

Covid Death Rate [Deaths / Population Size]

• Germany: 0.01% (verified (means I checked it myself, the official number is 0.011%, so it's accurate))
• Hungary: 0.006% (official numbers)
• Switzerland: 0.008% (official numbers)
• Spain: 0.06% (official numbers)
• Britain: 0.14% (verified)
• USA: 0.01-0.02% (estimation | official number is 0.045%, but there is a LOT of falsehoods in there)
• Italy: 0.06% (official numbers)
• Australia: 0.002% (official numbers)

And the reason for this variance is likely that some countries are hit more with flues than others. Britain for example was likely exempt too often, so they had more old people who lived who were already lined up for death due to old age and bad health conditions, but still alive, and the population had less general resistances). Now that they went over with it, they should be safe for the next flues. This is btw the issue with avoiding the spread of flues - the lack of herd resistances will cause a large spike the next time the flu hits. It's the same with the Australian bush fires - due to stupid Green policies they prohibited the controlled burning of woods and forest debris, and then boom, an uncontrolled one emerged and was the world's sensation for weeks.
