What did you wrap the 870 with? I have to rewrap my 835 every turkey season, I've never found anything that sticks well long-term (although that may be a result of the finish Mossberg uses on their stocks.)
I used Mossy Oak Vinyl, and try adhesive promoter spray . Some surfaces I’ve found just don’t like to be wrapped without altering the surface further and possibly damaging it.
I bet it is the finish. Mossberg uses four different type of metal finishes on the 835. One type for the aluminum receiver, another for the barrel, yet another for mag tube, and another for the small metal paint.
I found SEM 39143 Trim black sticks really well to just about anything. It's an etching primer with plastic adhesive promoter.
I painted my 835 with it. Looks sharp (and consistent) with the factory walnut stock.
