Agreed, that is a little strange. I might’ve expected the cops to intervene when a much larger mob of people started to follow, harrass, and attack a retreating group. Thankfully, the proud few seemed well capable of defending themselves. And so they did. And so they should continue doing.
I suspect she fully expected the cops to simply jump to her defence and ignore the inconvenient facts of the situation. Then skulk away quietly to a burning police station and chant out in unison for their own defunding.
