I was going to get my son a Ruger 10/22 like I had as well, but I decided on the Henry youth rifle instead. It’s pretty great, tons of fun to shoot and real easy transition from daisy lever BB gun.
My mom almost bought a S&W shield in 9mm, don't remember exact model it was a while ago. although I wish my dad went shooting with me and when I have a kid I will definitely bring him out.
Yep, first gun I ever shot was indeed a 10/22. The first gun I ever bought, I bought with my own money at age 15; a used Ithaca Saddlegun lever action .22, which I still own. I installed fiberglass insulation in a house under construction in Las Vegas in the middle of summer to earn the money for that gun.
first gun i shot, like many here im sure, was a ruger 10/22
my dad bought me a Remington 1100 when i was 18 or 19. first gun i bought was a S&W shield.

My dad bought me a 10/22 when I turned 18. Still have it and it functions flawlessly, 15 years later
