Yeah, but the writers of DS9 hated how he was such a died in the wool commie, and found every way they could to get around his commie utopia future ideas.
Oh, of course. But I can stop and talk to the compassionate idiot who doesn't understand why his compassion is misdirected into means that don't actually help. I've got no time to argue with the idiot who keeps shrieking "NO! NO CONFLICT AT ALL CAN EXIST BETWEEN FEDERATION OFFICERS! EVERYONE GETS ALONG AT ALL TIMES UNLESS THEY'RE POSSESSED BY AN ALIEN CONSCIOUSNESS!!!"
Although Roddenberry was a loon, his mandate to have no internal conflict forced those cuck writers to come up with some of the best Sci-Fi stories ever made.
Whenever most writers are given free reign to build drama out of conflict, the first thing they do is have everyone at each other's throats.
That's actually a very good point. Modern storytelling has lost the ability to stimulate the intellect, and instead focus on the gut and the groin. Man, now I'm sad about how TV and Movies are trash. And people still watch them...
The thing was even though Roddenberry was a lefty he had the sense to know that the socialist utopia only existed because they had magic replicators that instant 3D printed anything you wanted, thus eliminating supply issues.
Did anyone ever ask or say where those replicated materials came from?
Every next wonderful leftist guilt-free thing I've been presented with always manages to wind up more toxic in the long run than the current thing and/or made in sweat shops.
I saw that episode/s (can't remember if it's multi-part or not). It is actually quite prescient and calls the slums sanctuary cities or something close to it. Pretty darn good time travel plot tbh. It's far better than the one from Enterprise at least.
So many great characters. Odo, Sisko, Quark, and of course my all time favorite, Garak. Garak imo is one of the best character arcs in all of star trek.
Obvious Borg are the greatest enemy in the history of the Star Trek franchise, and Khan Noonien Singh is certainly the most memorable... but Gul Dukat has such an incredible character arc that they did so well, from the highs of being at the top and ruler of essentially the entire quadrant to the total depths of losing everything he ever cared about.
90s Trek was the best Trek. Current series are cucked and unwatchable.
What is it about sci-fi that draws liberal assholes to set up camp on these franchises and expect their ideas to work? It isn't love for the source material.
Current Star Trek is fucking awful. The plots are based entirely on contrivance and luck but the dialogue is truly unforgivable. I don’t know who is writing sci-fi these days but none of the characters sound like real people. Everyone speaks like caricature or a trope. Compare that to the writing and delivery for DS9 and TNG, hell even Shatner’s delivery was more believable.
Things Star Trek predicted:
Flip phones
iPads
Android phones
DEMOCRAT CITY FAILURE
Creator of Star Trek was a leftist atheist

true. They were a bit of bleeding hearts themselves though, although not as bad.

Sisko was the best Captain.

Gel packs of "nutrients" were re-materialized with the transporter technology.
So someone had to make the gel packs but apparently no one needs money in the federation, everyone just does their job because they feel like it.
And in that DS9 episode, they called the area where all the homeless and crazies were housed the "Sanctuary District." Now it's a Sanctuary City.
Almost positive I posted this to reddit some years ago. It didn't go totally unnoticed!

It was a two-parter; Chief O'Brien and Major Kira try to go back in time as well and up next to a couple of hippies from 1960's SF.
Season 3 ep 11 & 12
"Past Tense, Part I" "Past Tense, Part II"
Sanctuary Districts, but yeah.
DS9 is my favorite trek and the most underrated rum of the franchise.
Absolutely!
Definitely.
Before it came out I thought, a space exploration tv series that’s stationary space station.
Thought it can’t work.
Turned out to be my favorite.

Great characters and story arcs.
The rebellion over religion, the war and warriors. Politics, spys and double agents.
And the fact the Federation wasn’t the top dog on DS9, just interested observers.
The Spacestation and the Defiant were like characters of their own. So much crunch!
My dear doctor. I'm plain, simple Garak!
Oh yeah, the Bell Riots. This was just before DS9 finally found its footing with the Dominion War.
Fuuuuuck the Dominion War arc was so good
#USSCHALLENGERNEVERFORGET
Gul Dukat one of the best all-time TV villains.
Gul Macet > Gul Dukat
Garak is the best cardassian all together though.
He saved the entire alpha quadrant
lol, I see what you did there. Lore-wise he was Dukat's cousin XD
The Wounded is my absolute favorite episode. Memory Beta says that Macet grew facial hair to look less like his Dishonorable cousin
Fuck! I forgot about this episode!
Was this the "Bell Riots" thing. I'm going to have to rewatch this today.
Yep. It was a very good two parter.
There's also a fantastic callback to it in "little green men" (another extremely fun episode) as nog notes that bell looks exactly like sisko.
Ds9 definitely best trek.
Well, the Star Trek depiction failed to visualize just how slummy things would be

Lol
Sisco was da man!
He was a bit soft but he would fight if he had to.
Remember when he irradiated an entire fucking planet to get the guy he was after? He was definitely not soft when it came down to it lol.
Yep that's what I meant! Talk soft and carry a big irradiation device!
Then sets course for the next colony! Chief! Prepare another one!
That was a really good episode.
the place they predicted was cleaner
The first Dax was a hottie!
Sisko was the best Captain.
are you saying that there is a hot trill somewhere in san francisco?
