I am a member of a wholesale club like BJ’s, Sam’s club or Costco, as well as a habitual and lawful carrier of a concealed handgun. Recently I was looking at various stores and their stances on stuff and realized that my club store has a firm stance against open carry, and their CEO even went to far as to pen a pretty sanctimonious public statement about how guns just sorta aren’t welcome because families or something.. put me to sleep.
Of course with the passage of time our enemy has become ever bolder in its demands for capitulation and empty public statements.
Part of me wants to write a letter to whoever would listen, calling club store’s efforts halfhearted at best and insisting that a real commitment to disarming its members would include metal detectors at the doors. I feel like it either proves them hypocritical or demands a commitment to wokeness that will seriously undercut their customer base.
Is there any reason why that’s a stupid idea?
That is a good point. I only reluctantly live in the suburbs because of job proximity. I grew up in smaller cities. Even in Texas, my conservatives peers are way to willing to give on individual rights. Their wives would spank them for pushing anything like this.
"Go along to get along" isn't working. We do need to get creative and I think pushing the wokeness to the absurd might work to wake folks up.
Imagine the public outcry if entry into all public spaces looked like a TSA shit show!
