The point Trump was making at that time, was that there were good people at that rally that were defending the statues, and yet these demons in the media twisted his words.

Nope. In fact, I hope they continue to take this path. I've had more former "anti Trumpers" turned off by the Democrats pushing of bullshit lies than anything else. Just this week i had three friends tell me that the media has basically convinced them to vote for Trump.

The media wants money. Scandals (whether truth or lies) increase viewership and ratings which in turn makes advertisers want to pay for slot time. To answer your question, yes I think the media is helping and they have gone too deep to reverse course.
