Yeah, I agree. It's just harder than it sounds. I know I sound like a wuss, but teen kids are tricky.
Here's an example. My dad is conservative. I have more or less been conservative my whole life, but I had my rebellious periods. He never got authoritative. He just answered my questions and offered his opinions. Eventually I came around. It took more than a decade.
But, I'm lucky to be alive in a lot of ways for all the fucking around I did.
You are most welcome, Fren. I don't know if you are a God-fearing parent, but generally when I encounter needs coupled with humility, that becomes my prayer prayer list. (I hate saying it "goes on my prayer list," that's cliche and doesn't really convey the proper urgency)
