That's not how it works. It's ability to manage one's own life responsibly that supports an emancipation order. When it's really appropriate -- the teenager is mature and responsible, and the parents are not (druggies, in and out of jail all the time, etc), courts will emancipate a minor who has no ability to earn any income. They become eligible for their own "welfare" benefits -- cash, food stamps, housing vouchers, etc -- so they can finish high school. Basically, if it appears that the teen will do better with emancipated status than in the foster care system, a court will emancipate regardless of financial considerations.
