2,000 years ago Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through Me." Some people still haven't caught on.

Why do you think your made up book is right?

Have you ever read it?

Well you can see where the world is going without it. Which do you prefer?

Oh I'm pro-bible. I just think anyone with really strong opinions on it should at least have read it. Lots of assumptions about what it is that aren't accurate.

Growing up in a Catholic home, attending catholic school, CYO, etc, yes I've read it. It's a collection of books by unknown authors.

Do you dislike it? I think when you think about how it offered humanity an alternative to tyrants ruling over them you can see why it's revolutionary. It took power away from arbitrary human rule and said "No, you are a child of God and you have your own dignity that isn't given by man." It also demands individual accountability, which is also pretty revolutionary.

That concept is also the foundation of our constitution - your rights are God-given, not man-given.

I was also raised catholic and I shit on it for years but I've approached it with a different set of eyes as I've grown older.

Lastly, I started reading the Navarre Bible - it has footnotes to explain historical context of what they're talking about, who's who, Jewish traditions they're referencing. It's a good read even if you approach it just as an important historical book and not as a religious text (which is how I approach it).

So instead of having a king rule, you have an imaginary being? A lot of the founding fathers were deists. When they say God given, it doesn't necessarily mean the god of the bible. I have no problem saying "under God" or "in God we trust" because I think God is sorta open to interpretation. Just means they are natural and every human being should be granted those rights from birth, assuming they follow the rules.

How does religion offer personal accountability? When I can murder someone and confess my sins and be cleaned? That's the exact opposite of personal accountability.

Um, it sounds like you haven't actually read the Bible tbh. Jesus wasn't about any of what you said.

You should check out the Navarre Bible if you're interested. I don't really want to argue religion in tit for tat back and forth on social media. But their gospels are pretty cool.

Silly rabbit.

If you actually want to have a conversation, I'll be glad to. But I don't want to waste time on someone who is just trolling. Let me know.

People will see this and say "that's just what white people do and that's a problem". Complete brainwashing.
