It worked fine. You only have 5 seconds (the time cycle it runs) to physically restrain the guy (cuff him). When he went stiff that’s the moment you’ve got to swoop in and restrain. Not easy to do alone. Ideally when the officer said “taser taser” that indicates to the other officers to move in fast and physically restrain when the subjects body has stiffened up and he’s lost temp motor control. Now an officer can if justified give the subject another 5 second ride or 3rd etc but you would have to articulate reasons as the risk rises with each 5 second ride. But as you can see that decision making time comes at you fast. With a blunt or edged weapon it is very easy to break the taser cords or have the prongs rip off your clothes if they haven’t penetrated the skin. Taser is a great force option but is nowhere near foolproof. A bean bag shotgun is more effective and can be used at a longer range.
