I'm surprised they're even able to report any news regarding him. They kind of lost that privilege.

Cut away to fact check? You're implying that they will cover the RNC.

25
Choomguy 25 points ago +25 / -0

The bogus fact checking WILL be their coverage. They will only play actual parts of it that compliment their narrative.

His hundreds of millions of CNN cash payout is going too oWn libs

18
Msmcontrolsnarrative 18 points ago +18 / -0

Not sure the settlement was that amount, but I wonder if his terms of the settlement allow him to talk about such things?

15
Bedminster 15 points ago +16 / -1

It's rumored it was around 277 million. But after all the legal fees I would say he gets at least 200 of that.

24
tombombadil 24 points ago +24 / -0

Hahahaha imagine amassing a net worth of $200 million before the age of 20, all because CNN wanted to use your SMILE to make everyone think that people who attend the March for Life are all racist bigots.

I’ll bet that after his speech he will be able to sue again, because there is no way they don’t try to defame him yet again once he speaks out against them.

9
jennyfrutex 9 points ago +9 / -0

Viva Frei thinks it was probably much lower, maybe in the 7-digit range rather than 8 or 9. But it's the kind of case where you might sue for a huge amount, so that you get what you want in the end.

But of course, who knows? I'm assuming there was a clause written in keeping him from talking about the final amount.

Sixty2ndAssassin 11 points ago +11 / -0

I'll gladly take 10 million dollars for being slandered.

4
kmillz 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'll take 1 million lol

I'd take $100

iamherefortheluls 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's ludicrous.

He would not get that much even if he had won the lawsuit. No one would 'settle' for that sum.

1
Bedminster 1 point ago +1 / -0

It was not just CNN. It was CNN,WAPO,NBC/MSNBC. and that sum is not a lot to them collectively.

1
HowSweetTheSound 1 point ago +1 / -0

No, I think you're wrong, stop spreading bullshit and present an actual source for your claims.

It is not "rumored to be" hundreds of millions of dollars; you pulled that amount out of your ass, or are just parroting what some other village idiot pulled out of their ass and you stupidly believe everything you read on the internet.

1
iamherefortheluls 1 point ago +1 / -0

Do a comparison to other lawsuits.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restaurants

The jury damages included $160,000[citation needed] to cover medical expenses and compensatory damages and $2.7 million in punitive damages. The trial judge reduced the final verdict to $640,000, and the parties settled for a confidential amount before an appeal was decided.[3]

Consider that if a company was found at fault for inflicting 3rd degree burns on an elderly woman and the judge reduces her payout from 2.7 to 0.6 million, the courts are probably not going to be handing out tens of millions to a teen for a ruined reputation.

And settlements are usually for far, far less than expected payouts in case of wins. (I've never heard of a settlement that's over 20% of what would be a reasonable payout on a win)

Sandman got press for his lawsuit by touting a big number - and more power to him for doing that. Lets not confuse a publicity technique for reality though.

1
Bedminster 1 point ago +1 / -0

OHHHH!!!! A Wikipedia article! You win!

2
iamherefortheluls 2 points ago +2 / -0

you think leftists edited wikipedia article on a 25 year old lawsuit to argue against Sandman's payout?

0
malarky 0 points ago +1 / -1

And that 200 million (if true) would be tax free.

24
Cifu 24 points ago +24 / -0

I can't wait to see what he has to say at the RNC.

They should talk to Sandmans lawyers and compare notes.

There's a few hundred million more in here. I can smell it.

iamherefortheluls 1 point ago +1 / -0

they have been relatively fair and balanced for 6 years now from what I know.

not sure if they are really trying to become a reputable news source world wide, of if MSM In US and Europe is just so dishonest that there is literally no point in trying to out-lie them.

CNN would have been better off including a picture with the text "Nick Sandmann: Didn't do anything, we are sorry"

They need to release the settlement agreement and the legal arguments that led them to decide TO SETTLE and get off cheaper.

1
HowSweetTheSound 1 point ago +1 / -0

There is no legal argument. There's only a financial argument. (Numbers below are hypothetical.)

It will cost CNN $500,000 to defend themselves at trial. Or they can pay Sandmann $100,000 to go away.

Simple dollars and cents. CNN is guaranteed to save money. Sandmann is guaranteed a payout. Nobody actually cares about proving themselves right.

6
MAGA_____bitches 6 points ago +6 / -0

I'm surprised his lawyers are allowing him to turn himself into a public figure.

1
nine_inch_neck 1 point ago +1 / -0

I have no doubt they helped craft and approved his final speech.

Should be called the TNC, or Trump National Convention. Republicans are a joke right now.

4
blueeyephoto 4 points ago +4 / -0

"Viral video". No, that's not why he sued. He sued because you Assholes at CNN, MSDNC, etc cast him as a vile racist taunting an "innocent" native american instead of reporting it was the native american who approached him, beating a drum in his face, invading his personal space and all he did was smile.

Now they’re doing it again.
