And it's dead quiet, except that cnn is on every damn screen in the airport, brainwashing everyone waiting to board.

Who the hell decided CNN gets the monopoly on airport TV?

Product placement in movies is a funny thing. You can use a brand. But the brand can then turn around and sue over diluting their brand. For example you will never see a 'bad guy' in a movie use a Apple phone. It will be some generic slab. It can even go as far as maybe something is key to a character they will charge the production to use the brand.

So the companies basically resorted to getting a bit of extra cash to add product placements in them. Like the movie Ghostbusters. The scene where she is telling him about the refrigerator. The coke can in the background moves to make sure the label is facing the right way. Or the movie Cobra (with Stallone) he stops in the middle of a gun fight to have a beer. The first one is subtle and you would not notice it unless you looked for it. The second one was in your face.

It is usually just about money.

The CNN one recently is more about what hollywood thinks about the rest of us. So they gladly take the money to add an 'air' of credibility. Not realizing CNN had sold theirs long ago.
