What do you think they would've done if he started locking up his political rivals (deserving or not) after he go inaugurated? They would've kicked him out easily.

I'm not sure. The outcome of the impeachment was decided on partisan lines, and while some RINO could have flipped I doubt they could have gotten 17 of them.

Besides, Trump would simply direct the DOJ so they wouldn't have any excuse to impeach to begin with.
