Be sure to clean the weapon, even if it is newly manufactured, before you fire it.

I didn't and my new handgun jammed after one shot.

thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to do that. I did get a cleaning kit for it, but hadn't considered using it before I visit the range this week.

I was very disappointed when the 2nd round jammed. Thought it was defective. Before complaining to the shop I bought it from, I thought maybe the gun needed some patriotic loving care! Worked like a charm afterwards. ;)
