Because it's a trend and learned behavior. It's silly to think that the human brain isn't malleable to be reprogrammed (or programmed to begin with) to reward certain behaviors over others.
The "party of science" still can't prove people are born that way. And furthermore there are data that indicate that people are born either female or male and don't simply learn one of the other. We are born, with few exceptions, gendered and straight but the "party of science" won't hear any of it.
