Ive run across plenty of pedes who, while doing better under Trump, are still not in a position to donate (or hell even if they are in a position but being lazy or are a tepid Trump supporter). If you come across one ask if they have donated. If not stand with them and make a small donation on their behalf and make sure they know that donation is theirs and they can claim it. Or if they want to do it just spend some time and show them how. Mentioning it in real life has more impact.

Donating to a campaign gives people something to talk about and will make them feel like they have more skin in the game. They will be more inclined to spread the word if they have money on it.

Ill drop 10 or 20 bucks to excite a pede or future pede. Especially if they voice interest in voting Trump or are voting Trump but not full MAGA. If someone is leaning that way and then agree to a donation (even if technically they arent spending their money) they will have something to gloat about to others.
