Gaming store? Bet they supported BLM until it came to their door.

IcculusBased9 93 points ago +97 / -4

I can kinda feel that in the tone and temper of that tweet. Not anger, as a conservative would display. Disillusionment, as a liberal would feel.

HillarysMingy 69 points ago +76 / -7

its a form of virtue signaling. "we cannot recover from this loss but we are proud to have sacrificed everything we worked for so some joggers could play COD at home."

TheContrarian2 16 points ago +34 / -18

Wow. Y'all sure are reading a lot into this statement.

Or another possiblity I can think of (since I'm not following the personal story of the Shop closely) - The owner may live VERY near to the shop or had his home location more of less known. He was already looted and if he knows his location can already be found online he may be downright scared and just say he's closing instead of a very human "FXXX U BLM There wasn't a single thing I did wrong to blacks all my life you piece of XXXXXXXX".

Not rationalizing if owner's just a regular cuck though.

Proud_American -3 points ago +7 / -10

Why make any statement at all then?

Just close up and stay quiet.

HiddenDekuScrub 15 points ago +15 / -0

Sometimes small business gets a local following of sorts. These "gaming lounges" are usually little more than a D&D/cards/board game hangout that has tables set out for people to play in hopes they'll get tempted to buy some books, board games, or merchandise. They are often well liked.

10
hai_Priesty 10 points ago +10 / -0

I don't know if it's the default cultural in the west, in my place ALMOST ALL shops - even restaurants with Social Media Presence - will always inform people they're closing.

Game Shops may also had taken quite some deposits and such for ordering special stuff overseas / limited edition game/figures, and owner may be so broke he don't even have money to return the customers, so he's explaining for his delays in returning money. Lessen the chance that irate customers try to sue him in small claims court by telling them why he's suddenly SO broke.

Also shock is a factor. I don’t know if you’ve ever been through a completely life changing tragedy (hopefully not!) but emotional numbness and feeling everything is surreal is common. That alone might explain the tone of the comment.

Making any statement at all is what leads me to believe it’s a signal of virtue.

It's unfair to make assumptions like that. It's possible that they had no public statement, they had no position on it, they were just a small business that wanted to survive. Shame that they have to close because of the blm temper tantrum

17
ihatespeech 17 points ago +17 / -0

There's no virtue signaling on either their facebook or instagram accounts, only announcements about their former business.

6
venomouspede 6 points ago +6 / -0

That temper tantrum is always there...festering. The only thing holding it back was a government DOING ITS FUCKING JOB.

Now that the government has decided on inaction, it is an actual enemy of the people and should be treated accordingly.

Gaming has a pretty extreme mix especially once you toss in table top/card games.

2
PB_Mack 2 points ago +2 / -0

Not that kind of gamer. Those guys are the "my female elf princess rolls for initiative" type of gamer.

-6
Wheredidiputit -6 points ago +5 / -11

This is a table top spot I believe. Basement dwelling simps and white knights mostly.

Maybe if it's not Warhammer. You're the extreme exception then. Every table top place in this town is nothing but smelly basement fatties with low T soy beards and fedoras.

3
crash7863 3 points ago +3 / -0

Which Warhammer? I love Warhammer 40k. I got a space marine tattoo on my arm. There were tons of guys in my company that played it in Iraq. Even our commander who was a roided out guy played it.

2
Wheredidiputit 2 points ago +2 / -0

40k. Most players seem pretty based.

And not only that why would the insurance company want to insure them again if it’s going to be looted anyways? These useful idiots haven’t a clue what’s coming

8
Thepeter 8 points ago +8 / -0

A small business owner on that shop's page described that small businesses struggling to get by can't afford the Cadillac plans that cover total loss/looting, only massive corporations.

The owner said they would be battling the insurance company for months as well.

I scraped through some of their social media and if they did support BLM, they kept it out of their business. They seem like standup, normal people.

These were the damages:

We estimate our damage to the building to be close to $20,000 having to replace both doors, several windows and fix interior damage caused during this horrific event. We also estimate our loss of operating equipment to be roughly $20,000 our break down comes from : 8 Xbox one S and 8 PS4 pros as all our consoles were stolen. Our game collection for both consoles were roughly about $10000 and we had 8 damaged monitors beyond repair, 2 PC setups completely stolen along with several mouse and keyboard setups. We also lost 2 Nintendo switches and all games associated with the console and 2 Game Pro Controllers. All our televisions were either stolen or completely destroyed. We suffered damage to our display cases, camera systems, mini fridges used to hold beverages and many other smaller things

Mexicola1976 10 points ago +10 / -0

Remote kill switches on gaming consoles would be pretty cool.

21

And the bread shelves stay fully in stock.

6
Picador_20 6 points ago +6 / -0

That's because AOC has been going door-to-door giving lessons on baking fresh bread at home. She's given people of color countless blobs of her sourdough starter.

so the national guard was sent to kenosha yesterday; what did they do to assist? what are the roe for the guard during something like this? are their hands tied by the mayor/governor?

between nanshy chewing on her dentures and calling us enemies of the state, and the continued rioting/looting bc some criminal asshat made poor decisions...i feel like they're TRYING to trigger us into firing "the shot heard 'round the world, 2020."

7
HiddenDekuScrub 7 points ago +7 / -0

This was from the first night I believe.

3
snuggs316 3 points ago +3 / -0

it seems it was just as bad on night two. i do know the guard was called in...all the vid i've seen has no police presence, let alone guard. may be vid from the first night, tho'. i'm still curious as to how far the guard is allowed to go.

2
Bearing51 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes. This damage was done on Monday morning, not yesterday evening.

4
FreedomCrayon 4 points ago +4 / -0

Honestly, I doubt the NG will be able to do anything. The unit I was with in MD was "deployed" to Baltimore for the riots in 2015. Only a few actually had live ammo and, even if they did, they were only given a single bullet. And those were the ones in the shittiest areas. Everyone else was carrying blanks or just a rifle for show. It was fucking ridiculous.

8
FireannDireach 8 points ago +8 / -0

Fallout from Kent State. The fake narrative that Kent State was the NG going rogue and opening fire randomly, when it was after several days of looting, rioting, setting buildings on campus on fire, and throwing rocks, bottles and bricks at them - and then advancing on them and not stopping when ordered to.

9
EpsteinDidntKillHS 9 points ago +9 / -0

The first attack on small business was Covid lock downs. Then can the second attack on small businesses, riots and looting. Both of these attacks were meant to destroy small businesses who had less insurance and less cash on hand to deal with these attacks.

I still haven't seen a single Walmart looted.

Lots of small businesses canceled their insurance policies when COVID started because they literally did not have the money to pay for it. Either save the money to buy supplies to run the shop or pay for insurance, which would you choose? They also figured that their store would be closed anyways.

6
FireannDireach 6 points ago +6 / -0

They literally state on their FB page they'll be fighting their insurance company for months. By the time they're done fighting, they'll be so in the hole paying out of pocket it would be financially devastating. That's why they know they're done.
