Hope it works out well. School, even at the best of times, is a dicey venture. One bad teacher or a couple bullies can just ruin a childhood. Now add all the drug and sex propaganda. Fuck it.

It really does pay off in the end. I am living proof. I really really struggled in school (though my parents knew I was very smart, just didn't get the whole system they were teaching me with). They finally got me the right help I needed and now I'm the highest earning person in my entire family by a wide margin. I am here to help my parents, family, and extended family. It's the least I can do as gratitude for them. It will pay off in the end, rest assured all you good parents out there.

I went to a private school, k5-senior year, and it may have just saved my life.

When I was little, I saw the public-school kids as "normal" or "cooler". They didn't have to have manners, or have proper & neat school attire. Later, I thought I dodged so many conflicts and bad influences that happen there. Now, I understand the Christian values and way of life, the peace, and the proper education I was blessed to have saved my life from not just the wrong, but straight up evil.

Your children will thank you later. Congratulations!

one of my kids was not doing well, and i think this will give him a new lease on his future. He seems proud today and kind of tenatively excited. I am so scared, but I am so relieved.

Part of it is probably he's excited cause you're excited. Even if you don't have the best option, getting excited about your best option is going to get kids on board with what they have available.

Look up homeschooling sources, and make them available as well. Even private schools are sometimes nutty. I hope you and kids get it done.

4
PANTIFA 4 points ago +4 / -0

I was the same but left private school after 6th grade. I was so excited to be with normal kids. I look back at that as one of the biggest regrets of my life.

I was exposed to so much shit, and this was a public school in a very rich area.

No child left behind lol. Because not all kids are winners. So lower the standard to the lowest common denominator so collectively we are all stupid.

22
rooftoptendie [S] 22 points ago +22 / -0

the way things are phrased on their math homework.... I honestly don't see how kids can learn it at all. Its barely in english. Its like word-salad.

5
PhilosoGuido 5 points ago +5 / -0

It's really "no child gets ahead." Because it's much easier to neglect high performing children and let them stagnate then to bring up low performers. So they classify the low ones as ADHD/Special Ed, neglect the high ones and teach the rest to the test. The rest of the time indoctrinating them into Marxism.

yes. they dont even go a full five days a week either. because "theyre broke". uh-huh. they have these tablets they issue kids and they use them to play CNN to them daily and call it "social studies".

This is not some deep-black shit-on school either. Its just suburbia right now in a blue shit-hole.

41
gnomenclature 41 points ago +41 / -0

Congrats, pede. There are far more important things than an extra car - as you know. If possible, make sure you or your spouse volunteer there on occassion. And get to know the other parents. A Christian school IS a great change, but the devil has even infiltrated the clergy, so STAY VIGILANT. Stay in touch with other parents, get to know the kids your kids are in class with. Get to know the teachers, admins, etc. Be on campus and know which other parents volunteer and spend time around the kids. You've taken a great first step and I know it's a load off your mind, but please don't become complacent, no matter how tired you may get. Your kids are worth your diligence. Peace.

17

People often ask me why I have such a radical view about government education, as in I want the government school system entirely disbanded. It's because I was a victim of the government school for 12 years and it had done everlasting damage to me for the rest of my life. If there is one thing I have loved to see more than anything else, more than Planned Parenthood's closing, more than paying less taxes, more than illegal aliens getting deported is hearing parents, great parents such as yourself, saying 'fuck this shit, I'm not gonna let my children be brainwashed and mentally destroyed." You did a great deed for your children, all the extra money and all the sacrificing will be worth it when your kids are happier, smarter, well adjusted, moral, and healthier than their government school counterparts.

12
rooftoptendie [S] 12 points ago +12 / -0

at this point, right NOW, it is ACTIVELY doing a DISservice to the public, and I agree with you. It needs to be radically restored to its former glory - like PRONTO - or it needs to be killed. It is now doing serious damage to communities. And someday, even if you don't have kids and you think this shit is none of your business, it WILL be your problem. These kids will be running around your town like fucking idiotic malfunctioning monkeys on crack, and YOU will have to clean up the mess, O Kidless Ones!

SHUT IT DOWN!

23
Yucky 23 points ago +23 / -0

Holy shit man, that sounds like quite an ordeal. But if there ever was anything worth spending that much money on, your children would be it. Best of luck.

I think you should conduct an experiment: take a mental snapshot of what your kids are like now. Write down a description of their different attributes, abilities, behaviors and performance.

Then, after a year or two in the private school, do the same again.

Compare the difference. That will tell you if it was worth it or not. Well, that and not having to deal with school shootings.

I love the old leftist garbage argument about abortion.

“Those conservatives only care about the baby until it’s born, and then they don’t give a shit about them.”

FUCKING BULLSHIT. We love our children and want them to thrive, and that means giving them the education and critical thinking skills to learn how to create a better life for themselves.

We care deeply about children, they want to sexualize and dumb them down.

But yeah, we don’t give a shit about the kids..

It’s ridiculous the shit these morons come up with.

3
aaafirefly123 3 points ago +3 / -0

9

It makes me really fucking pissed off at Betsy for just sitting on her hands all this time. Some of us are WAITING ON HER to do something, and our kids will be out by the time she makes a visible impact at this rate.

3
RenaissanceOfHope 3 points ago +3 / -0

Fire DeVos and replace her with Paul Vallas! Vallas is a liberal but lefties hate him because of his love for charter schools (like what he did in New Orleans)!

2
slaphappy2 2 points ago +3 / -1

I'm not a lawyer - but I doubt that the Federal dept. of Education has the authority to impose school choice on local districts and/or states.

Federal DOE seems to be rather powerless.

Wouldn't Congress have to pass a nationwide school choice law ? It would also have to get approved by SCOTUS from a practical point of view.

1
DeafMute 1 point ago +1 / -0

School choice is a state issue. This is yet another reason to participate in state and local politics. The Feds have some ability to strongarm states with funding, but this can work both ways.

0
physicscat 0 points ago +1 / -1

That's the point. She's making sure the federal government is as hands off as possible. That's a good thing.

3
LeewardRights 3 points ago +3 / -0

If he is inclined to go to college, look up the macro agreement between the community college and the college of your choice. When homeschooled I did community college classes at same, but on the “liberal arts” track that would transfer me in as a College junior after HS. That all worked, and was far cheaper. Sounds like he’s taking the transferable classes already.

do you live in the hood? How the fuck could there be zero AP classes? You're talking about HS, correct?

17
rooftoptendie [S] 17 points ago +17 / -0

YES, HS.

Their junior high had an "After School satan club" so don't even get me started. We aint hood, we burbs too!

11
Mexicola1976 11 points ago +11 / -0

How can a public HS have zero AP classes offered? Even shitty public schools in Detroit and Baltimore offer them.

13
rooftoptendie [S] 13 points ago +13 / -0

They have just given up. Its like they don't even care anymore. Its completely insane. They let kids out of class to protest... the dropout rate is around 20%... they have days with reduced hours, so theyre not even going 5 days a week... they NEVER bring home homework, none of them has ever even been asked to "write a report". They are not taught cursive. They would not even know how to read cursive if it wasnt for me teaching them at home. The school is open for all of 45 min after school lets out for extra instruction. Is not open before school for half the year. IT. IS. FALLING. COMPLETELY. APART.

I know all those teachers are out rioting right now instead of doing any kind of class development for september. I know it.

5
aaafirefly123 5 points ago +5 / -0

Wow, I am amazed at how terrible that school is.

I don’t even think it can be saved at this point.

Tear that piece of crap down and start all over, Black list the current teachers and administrators so that they never work again.

I learned cursive in elementary school. It was private though.

1

2
CALI_MAGA_MAMA 2 points ago +2 / -0

Our elementary school doesn't even teach kids to read. They do even worse at math. I live in a poor border burb. The school here is just a social welfare program for mexican citizens bussed across the border every day.

9
FredWinston2.0 9 points ago +9 / -0

God bless you. I did it. I went into debt up to my eyeballs to put all 3 of my girls through catholic school from pre-k thru 12. Every year my wife would say we can’t do it anymore and every year I said yes we can. There is nothing in life more important than your kids. We gave up everything at the time and it was worth every bit of the sacrifice. Anyone that says they can’t do it hasn’t tried.

3

If public schools were privatized, the cost of education would go down and few people would need vouchers.

7

3
AmericanPatriot6f0 3 points ago +3 / -0

5
rooftoptendie [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

ya gotta get desparate enough. Thats what happened to me. I just couldn't take anymore. I get this feeling from some public school parents that they have no IDEA what is going on in the school. Like they don't ever discuss it with the kids or anything. Some of them seemed unperturbed by all the bullshit, and I can only think that's because theyre not seeing it.

7
Jaunty_Haul 7 points ago +7 / -0

IMO, we need to stop calling it public school and start calling it government school.

I'm happy for you. Really I am. My kids go to a public funded Catholic school here in England. Now I ain't Catholic, I'm not even slightly religious. But the Catholicism keeps all the LGBT bullshit out of the school. And they teach proper morals and ethics. No BLM bullshit.

The headmistress knows I'm not religious, they don't force it on the kids, but they do teach it. It's really not an issue. I don't mind my kids learning about Jebus and doing a nativity play at Xmas. That shits kinda nice to be honest.

5
asshoe 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'm agnostic but my kids go to a catholic private school. It's great and I'm glad to support that school. The most important thing that sets most private schools apart from public schools is that the head, teachers, and parents actually give a fuck.

5
ThickCheney 5 points ago +5 / -0

What’s really ridiculous is that you had to do all that to afford a private school, while still paying taxes for that shitty public school.

Private Christian school is the way to go. You pay for it, but it's worth it. Now if only we could get those damn school vouchers we were promised.

EDIT: I will tell you this, though. Be aware that Christian schooling isn't a panacea. A lot of times families will take their troubled kids and send them there. I saw it first-hand growing up.

It's also not a guarantee that your kid is going to come out alright. An awful lot of the kids I went to school with ended up turning into brainwashed SJWs after college- even the "really good ones". I can't tell you how many families who sent their kids to the church the school was in ended up having their kids get knocked up in college, or go gay. And these were kids that never showed any signs of any of that shit growing up.

College is a huge dumpster fire that I've witnessed ruin an awful lot of good people I knew first-hand. It's FAR more dangerous than we give it credit for being.

3
RenaissanceOfHope 3 points ago +3 / -0

People are usually born with their orientations. If a kid has a great work ethic, solid educational accomplishments, proper manners, and a positive attitude they will be fine.

3
SlannMagePriest 3 points ago +3 / -0

Private school is no substitute for good parenting, the upshot is that you don’t have the subversive SJW’s who run public schooling interfering with your parenting.

2
DarkMemeDuck 2 points ago +2 / -0

I mean, some of my friends were definitely trending towards LGBT back in school, and so it was no surprise what they became. But a lot of them weren't even close, and to see some of the life choices they have made... they may as well be completely different people now. And it always came with a HEAVY dose of liberalism attached to it. Which leads me to think those particular people weren't "born that way" but rather sold a lifestyle that was all luster and no real substance.

3
RenaissanceOfHope 3 points ago +3 / -0

LGBTQ folks should follow Blaire White, Richard Grenell & Peter Thiel as role models; not the crazy people that the left trots out as LGBTQ celebrities!

3
DarkMemeDuck 3 points ago +3 / -0

Oh I fully agree. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying what I'm saying to slight the LGBT folks. Again, some of those close friends of mine were obviously gay, and we didn't really care. You learn to put that shit aside pretty quickly. But it was the double-whammy from the ones that were totally hetero all the way through high school who then dropped the conservative values their families had so strongly held, and then also started to date the same sex that really made me think something else was going on there. It's a little startling how fast some of these folks (most of them girls) did a complete 180 once they spent their 4 years on campus.

5
JustInTime2_ 5 points ago +5 / -0

Congrats. Now do not fall asleep on these private school teachers either.

5
militarysnoopy 5 points ago +5 / -0

4

4
glevert 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm happy for you and your kids. We lived in a predominately welfare-druggie area when our kids were little. I checked out the neighborhood school and was shocked at how bad it was. We opted to stay in our "starter home" even with all the issues so we could afford to send our kids to a private school. It was life-changing for them. Years later, they have good jobs. Kids from the neighborhood are in prison, dead, or struggling with life.

The switch to a school that requires work may be difficult for your kids. Encourage them. Let them know hard work now translates into better opportunities.

4
TickleTh1sElmo 4 points ago +5 / -1

I went to a private Christian school from K all the way through high school. It was culture shock going from there to community college. I never liked the school I went to while I was there until after leaving. I was shocked to see how many people in college couldn't form a complete sentence. I'm not smart by any means, but I've almost finished a degree in Political Science, and it's pretty fucking crazy how easy these A's are.

When I have kids, I'm gonna do everything in my power to keep them out of a public school.

4
Side-o-Beef_Curtains 4 points ago +4 / -0

Best investment you ever made. When I was a boy my dad had a delivery route. He used to let me work for him to earn extra money to buy a bike or whatever. Anyway, one stop was an old folks home. I used to look at those folks and wonder why they were so lonely. Where were their families? I had great parents, and they will never be alone at the end of their lives. They will live with me and their grandkids as soon as they need physical help. My point is, the sacrifices you have made financially will pay off more than any 401k ever could. Most of the problems we face today can be solved by father's. Congrats my brother, enjoy watching your kids flourish.

Excellent!

No watch the private school; all teachers, coaches, and administrators. Know that the leftists have infiltrated the private schools too. They have to be more subtle at times. But they are there too and they purposely infect the children's minds with their lies. Keep open communication with your children. Besides being involved with their hw, communicate daily with them as to what they did today what the teachers taught or said, and what their teachers are like. Most important continue to teach your kids about your values and what is right and wrong. Watch out for International Baccalaureate programs and courses such as Human Geography. The former is being infiltrated to teach the wonders of globalism. The latter is pure progressive propaganda.

4

Me and my wife are taking our daughter to do a tour at a private school we found next week. Its a catholic school, and its one of the top ranked schools in our city. I ended up going to a VERY CONSERVATIVE non denominational Christian school and even that didn't guarantee everyone came out fine. When Facebook first became a thing, I eagerly looked up all my old classmates. An awful lot of them became hardcore SJWs, and a surprising number joined the LGBT ranks. I'd say it was maybe 30% or so. It was enough that it discouraged me to ever go find old classmates again. It was just too depressing. I think it was college that got to a lot of 'em. Profs are really good at brainwashing and indoctrinating Christian kids. And even Christian colleges are full of these subversive assholes.

thank you! i have a few relatives who had bad bad bad catholic school experience, so this one is not. I know theyre OK because we have friends who went there decades ago, and know a family with all the kids enrolled from our church. So we got the inside scoop.

But I know what you mean. idk what they do in somea them catholic schools but it traumatizes the kids sometimes. No bueno.

Always look up charter school options. Never settle for public school.

Would you care to share what annual tuition is? Considering chipoing in for my sister’s kids, and shes curious how much it is.

One kid, with a discount for financial hardship = about 8k, paid over 9 months. Without discount = about 12k paid over same timeframe.

Two kids, with discount = 14k

Three, discount = 20k

I honestly wouldn't have made it without the gofundme. It saved our asses. There were a lot of friends and relatives that wanted to help out, and they put us over the top so we could actually afford it.

Now think about California, where they spend over 15 grand per kid per year in public school.

If they just gave vouchers for ten grand, it'd be so easy to pay an extra 2 for your own kids, and the state would save a tremendous fortune.

Holy shit this needs to be it's own post man. Fuck that Yang gang bullshit, give me school vouchers over universal basic liquor store any day of the week.

Yeah but then teachers, administrators, and the union leaders would be deprived of that sweet sweet tax payer money that they use to pay for their vacations.

You are so selfish, think about their needs.

If Commiefornia did that, I’d have 4K left over after private kinder tuition that I’m about to write a check for.

Your kids will thank you someday by becoming great patriots and picking a nursing home far, far away from New York.

That is awesome. You did the right thing. The truly right thing.

I think back on the hard work my parents must have done to send me to the unusual private schools I needed for my time growing up. I have dyslexia and needed some real help... Then they kept sending me to a good private school and I loved my time there. Small classrooms, good teachers. Not quite all the extras I could have wanted but still lots of good stuff.

I hope that when Trump gets his 2nd term, he can come through on those School Choice programs they outlined at the RNC on day one. I hope it really helps with vouchers so you can rest a bit easier with your kids education. Nevertheless, you are doing the right thing, fighting the good fight, for the right... no, the best reasons. I salute you sir and madam.

All three of my kids are now enrolled in a Christian school. The public school is remote only. Not very helpful for elementary aged students when the primary purpose is child care. I don’t like paying taxes for school and tuition though!
