It makes me really fucking pissed off at Betsy for just sitting on her hands all this time. Some of us are WAITING ON HER to do something, and our kids will be out by the time she makes a visible impact at this rate.

I'm not a lawyer - but I doubt that the Federal dept. of Education has the authority to impose school choice on local districts and/or states.

Federal DOE seems to be rather powerless.

Wouldn't Congress have to pass a nationwide school choice law ? It would also have to get approved by SCOTUS from a practical point of view.

School choice is a state issue. This is yet another reason to participate in state and local politics. The Feds have some ability to strongarm states with funding, but this can work both ways.

That's the point. She's making sure the federal government is as hands off as possible. That's a good thing.
