Lincoln was not called a fascist since fascism didn’t exist until Mussolini. But year, the other stuff is pretty true. The violence was a war between armies, this is an insurgency by leftist mobs. Same goal, end the United States.
Can we get a fact check on the bit about the press? Was Lincoln really dragged through the mud in the papers the way that DJT is on the internet? Hard to believe because of how Lincoln is portrayed in the history books.
I'm sorry man, but everything you just listed comes back to slavery. Yes, southerners were defending their way of life from northern states who were trying to change their historic traditions. What were they defending and what was the north trying to change? Slavery. The nation had these repeated political conflagrations every time a new state was added and the compromise was always "add one free state and add one slave state." The straw that broke the camel's back was the election of Lincoln. Why did the South secede the minute Abraham Lincoln was elected? Because the Republican Party was the new upstart abolitionist party. They were quite unyielding and determined in their opposition to slavery. The South did not think they could be bargained with.
The handwriting was on the wall at that point that slavery was not long for this world if the South remained in the union. Losing slavery meant the entire southern economy and southern way of living would have to change. The Civil War was fought over slavery.
Did you actually read it though? He didn't have them arrested for being 'fake news' the way we think about it today.
a false and spurious proclamation purporting to be signed by the President and to be countersigned by the Secretary of State, which publication is of a treasonable nature
his administration had an actual argument based in law that this was treason.
One of the most interesting parts of the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL is the room of slander. It features wall to wall newspaper articles calling Lincoln every name imaginable. The one I like best is how they called him the “original gorilla.”
Lincoln is (was) my favorite president....before now.

Lincoln also had his James Mattis. But his Mattis actually become the Democrat nominee who ran against him in his re-election campaign.
Mattis at least was a decent General.

Wow that's blatantly unconstitutional. I didn't actually know that happened.
Yeah it was just a big fucking virtue signal.
Admittedly it does make for a nice story though.
What was the original issue the war was fought over?

Slavery. It was fought over slavery.

Wow, TIL. Can you imagine the outrage if DJT signed an executive order calling for the arrest and military tribunal of CNN?

Also I don't think fascism was created at that time yet.
It is arguable that he lost the popular vote. There were many voting irregularities and criminal aliens who voted illegally.
Sounds familiar...
